View Full Version : SPAX coilovers need rebuilding
Bought a set of Spax RSX coilovers for the Nova, came off a rally car. Fitted them, but discovered that the OSF has a sh*t load of play between the piston rod and body, so I'd say it's had a spank at some stage, and done the sliding bushes.
Are these shocks rebuildable, and can I get bits and do it myself, or will I have to send them off somewhere?
spax's tel no. 01869 244771, ring them tuesday morning
ps. why do you think they were taken off the rally car???
Best thing to do is email spax, I did the same with a set of AVO's and got a price for refurb straight back.
cheers mate, was obvious I suppose, I'll go sit in the corner lol
Or use that old skool telling phone thing.
well, it can take hours for an email to actually get there, but a phone call is instant...
Emails are pretty damn instant, it's the replies that take up to a day lol But the advantage is he can send an email now and forget about it :)
i have to wait for emails at work, and if the server is being updated or similar, it can take ages, and young people think we are outdated cos we use phone & fax to get info thru...
our website also has a contact page & tbh postcards from greek islands get there quicker..
the information you can get from a 2 minute phone call still whips all the other methods of contacting them
Can please update this thread when you find out if Spax rebuild them.
I've got a pair of fronts and one of them is leaking :(

When they rebuild them is it possible to have them painted again so they are like new?
I shall ask them that too!
let us know how you get on lewis :thumb:
may get my rsx's refurbed
forgot about this thread.
So the word from spax is that as the RSX is a fully welded unit, it cannot be rebuilt. so looks like I need to fork out for 2 new bodies :(
ps. why do you think they were taken off the rally car???
because I bought them from colin, and watched him remove them from said rally car lol
Introduce them to this awesome tool called "the grinder and an ultra thin cutting disc" lol
edit, also:
because I bought them from colin, and watched him remove them from said rally car lol
Lazy fcuk lol
I did ask them why they didn't just cut them open, and his response was something like :tard:
Well, I say watched him remove... they were already off when I came for them  lol
If they can't refurbish them because it's a fully welded unit then how were they put together?!
You can either sell me your good strut or I'll sell you mine lol

No idea tbh, but looking at them, they don't look very dismantle-able lol
