Do I need the rear fuel pump regulator? nova c20let

I have a c20let nova and its running the let external fuel pump and still has the golden coloured regulator rigged up which you get on the nova gte. Do i need this as i have purchased an uprated pierberg pump and it looks like the previous owner hasnt had it on there?

It's not a regulator it's a damper most people do away with it and it runs fine

Cheers guys. I just assumed it was a regulator due to the adjustble looking bolt on the top. Il fit this pump tomoro then ;)
