Fuel sender

I have a VX220 dash is my Nova. The fuel level seems to read in reverse. For example, put £30 in today on top of the £15 out of the jerry can on my garage (so now around 40 litres? What does a Nova tank hold?) and it shows "refill" on the dash.

So if i swap the connections on the tank sender will this cure it or blow something??

Advice please.
