Can you use standard cable on redtop nova or do you need to use a different one? Thanks russell

Standard one...but before fitting the cable insert a bar into the cable hole in the bulkhead and bend it down towards the gearbox to give extra clearance otherwise the cable rubs on the inlet manifold and eventually snaps

Adjust the plastic bit on the end of the cable to adjust the pedal height.
As for the gears...what linkage is on the car?

I done that but it didnt make a difference, its a standard linkage i replaced the old one because it was worn.

Found out what was up with it pressure plate has collapsed

Did you turn the white plastic bit in the linkage?
He did mate, He took the inspection cover off and he saw the pressure plate was gubbed,
