There doesn't seem to be any oil getting to the cams :/ and is really tappy (cause no oil getting to cams) anyone know what it could be? Its had a oil pump change already cause this problem but its still the same :/ I'm just confused about what it can be? Any help / info will be much appreciated. Thanks

blocked oilway/pickup

Could I solve this problem without taking the head off? And the pickup is clear (apparently)

No,as the oilway into the head could be/also blocked

What about, taking the rocker cover off and getting an air line and blowing through it? Could that be worth a try or just a waste of time?

Try it,you have nothing to lose.

how long was the engine stood for before you fitted it, and how long have you had it running for since fitting it?

My XE was sat for 7 months between removing it from the donor, to starting it in my Nova, and the lifters tapped like f*ck, ran it up to temperature and let it idle for 15 minutes and now they are silent

I think there's a one way valve on the back of the block for oil to get up to the top end. Might be worth some investigation/reading up on that

Also is it getting pressure elsewhere and just not the top end?

This is the only reason it got took from the cav in the 1st place, well and to replace it with a LET.
@Iain.. any chance of a picture of this one way valve? just so i know what im looking at. And yes, well as far as i know anyway. But the oil light is on constantly ???

best off stripping it down mate pull out all the lifters drain them out in a vice (making sure to keep them in the order they came out and the oilway facing the correct direction when they go back in ) checking all of the oilways for blockages ect then put back together

if the oil light is on constantly then theirs a huge chance the damage has already been done

Could the pressure relief valve be stuck?

Common XE fault & caused me no oil pressure.

Its this thing located here:

Take nut off & the spring will come out. The round section with holes in gets stuck.

Maybe worth a look

Hi
Get an Allen key. You may need to cut one down slightly on the short end.
Put it in & you should be able to get the Allen key into one of the holes, then pull & it should come out.
Once out clean up with fine wet & dry, lubricate and put back together.

Good luck.

Or if you havent got an alley key to chop up, try a spoke from a push bike, bend the threaded end over to make a suitable hook and use that to pull it out!

Are those common for breaking or going wrong then on xe's, what does the relief valve actually do aswell?

I managed to get it out, was hard but I managed lol. I cleaned it up and refitted, but still has not solved my problem. I took off the rocker cover, started it up and there is no oil at all getting up there. So I put it all back together and took the sump off, drained the oil 1st obviously haha 5 litres of oil was in there lol. Also took off the oil pickup cleaned it out and going to refit tomorrow. Will let you all know how I get on.
