Bit of advice required... Am thinkin of uprating the brakes on my nova... Its only a 1.3 so major stopping power is not required... I have also got the standard SR 3 spokes on n plan on keeping them on... was thinking of just goin for corsa b calipers n carriers... I know its not a major upgrade but should be a lil better n will do away with the sliders that always sieze causing imbalance...

Anyway, my mate at work has a corsa b sport with vented discs n while his car was on the ramp with the wheel off, i tried my nova 3 spoke on it, to check clearance... It cleared, but only just!!! And i mean, only just... Was just wondering if anyone else has put corsa b vented on a nova before?? Had problems??
Because i got a feeling should i fit them to my nova that the caliper may catch the wheel should it have brand new pads fitted (with the piston pushed back fully causing maximum stretch of caliper from outer disc face)

Or??? Should i just play safe and go for corsa b solid discs??? Dont think they should be much bigger than nova set up

they are the same as the later sri brakes from the nova

There are corsas out there with 236*20mm discs which should fit fine and give you that little better heat capacity to then run silly pads like cl5+'s etc.

Some are solid, some are vented.

Www.needforspeed.co.uk has lots of brake disc size info (just don't buy from them lol)

as you said, you need to check with a new disc & new pads to really make sure, but 5mm spacers don't exactly break the bank

Just done this on my rally car, with new pads and discs they do foul the three spoke alloys. You just need to grind of the outer edge of the caliper slightly, its not much at all but enough to jam the wheel!

or get a spacer please..

Have looked into this at work on our EPC... Turns out my mates, as its a later corsa sport, has got 256 discs on... Which is why its so close but earlier corsas had 236 x 20 as stu said... Which has it happens were the same dimensions (and probs same kit) as nova sri's... So to do away with the crappy slider pin calipers, have just got to find some calipers and pad carriers from an early corsa b that wore the 236 vented discs and can then get me a set of new nova sri/ corsa b pads and discs... No disrespect, but dont fancy taking a grinder to my calipers just so can have the 256's... Thanks to everyone though for their help

The 256mm wont fit due to the 3 spoke alloys been 5j they need to be atleast 5.5j to clear the caliper as i've been looking into doing this, instead i've bought some cesaros just so i can have better brakes.

look on astra mk3 diesels too.. a lot of them had 236 vents with ate calipers....

Iirc the 'valver' bakes are 256*24mm which won't fit under 3spokes, but I believe there is a 256*20mm setup which might just fit if you are lucky.

Cheers mowgli.... Will the astra f carriers bolt straight on to the nova steering knuckles though??
