i'm keeping them std silver, but they are getting a bit knocked about, and the previous owner sprayed them already.

so, what is the best stuff to give a factory look & where do i get it?

You can get alloy wheel paint, which AFAIK is the standard alloy silver. Or go for a shade of silver you like (maybe go through Halfords paint selection and pick one).

i've had cheap wheel paint in the past & not got an even covering... and i'd rather not use our local halfords, as i don't want to buy a bike or a tent

Go to your local paint specialist Mike, get them to match it and make it up in spray tins. I always find the paint matched tins paint very well :)

In all fairness,it would be cheaper to get them powdercoated than to buy the paint tbh.

locally its about £40 per wheel, and i don't have that sort of money.

for decent paint your going to be looking at £10 a tin and i would go for a tin per wheel just to be sure, then theres primer and laquer, sand paper, de-greaser.

Vauxhall star silver mk1 is the colour vauxhall use to paint their wheels.

Youll get a ok finish from rattle can, but youll need quite a few cans, any body shop can paint them and get a great finish, but saving up and getting them powder coated is best.

Another vote for powder coating here,

I only paid £45 per wheel for my 8 x 18's and £20 per 14" wheel.
