View Full Version : Corsa VXR Engine (or cheap complete car)

I was going to buy a local Corsa VXR with a damaged engine, but the guy selling it is a total ****, so that's fallen through.

So I'm looking to buy either a cheap car (damaged, non-runner, whatever).

Or I will just buy an engine, which needs to be as complete as possible. I'm not bothered whether it runs or not.

Must be the Corsa VXR engine, i.e. the 1600cc turbocharged one.

the merivas have a 1.6 as well

Not sure if you are aware colin but the astra h sri does a 1.6 turbo aswell,essentially the same but with different map iirc??

corsa is the only one with seperate can systems

I wasn't aware that it was used in other cars, thanks.

The plan is to use the engine (one day) as the basis for a 1000cc short-stroked all steel turbocharged unit for my Nova.

So my shortlist of potential donors looks like;

Corsa VXR
Meriva VXR
Astra H SRi

That's useful, maybe the owners of Astra/Merivas will be of a better class than the sort of people who own Corsa VXR's..............

So basically I'm searching for a 1600cc Astra SRi turbo? (obviously the 2000cc model is quite common). Are there any other model names to look out for?

What years was this 'H' model in production for?

04-09 were the years of production of the 'h' or mk5 is its other name

Hers is a 57,as to what years from-to in the sri, im not sure,sorry.
Astra H afaik was 54-60

also the new astra j come with a 1.4 turbo or 1.6 turbo and when it snows there loads cheep right off's as they don't like it

yep mine survived this year due to snow tyres i drove a few cars with 17's on in the snow and the new astra is bad out of all of the. it my mum wont drive it in the snow she go and get my sis astra h lol
