Becuase im a big child im going to build a downhill trike out of old pedal bikes :d

the plans are (feel free to add any input as to what you think will work better :thumb:)

x2 mountin bike front ends
x2 bmx (for the front) wheels
x1 20" rear wheel
tublar frame (welded with riveted floor pan)

thinking of painting it matt black with red highlights, this will be the only input my birds 12 year old brother is alowed to help with as his mum  thinks welding and grinding metal isnt safe.

not sure about what im going to do brake wise?

just need to buy a load more mig wire and get my hands on some cheap or free ridged bike frames now, wonder if there are any down the tip?

any advice/input would be great :)

Most are ally framed so unless you can weld aluminium with your mig. You'll need to find some old old steel ones...

Good luck sounds like a right laugh..

all my old bikes were steel i thourght most were apart from the more expensive ones? my old man has a couple of my old bikes still so he is going to bring them up hopefully next week, living in derby and him being in kondon is a pain lol

why you using 2 front ends??? are they going at the back??

get 3 front ends (with suspension) and make the middle up using the old frames put two of the forks at the back make sure there straight and weld them solid so they cant steer then use the other front forks and front end of frame at the front with all the handlebars ect then theres your steering front brakes will all still be attached
get a bmx headset (with gyro) then you will be able to run 2 cables to the back for the rear brakes;)

I wanted two wheels at the front and one at the back, to begin with was going use the two front ends up front and have the rear on a ridged set up like any non suspension bike

Brake wise I was going to have none on the back and just have the two front setups hooked to the std brake handles.

I was thinking two wheels at the front would handle better the two at the back and one up front like a reliant robin lol

you do it like that and the brakes would act a bit like a skidsteer

Need some sockets and aload of different Allen keys to strip it some more

Then had ago with my new wire wheel attachments for the drill lol

Oh it's like that eh. Well it'll be a fun and rewarding experience, just make sure you both stay safe, if you know what I mean.

I am looking forward to seeing these pro welding skills you've been telling me about put to use on this. Can you not use a wire wheel on a grinder to shift paint quicker?

Yer i bought (spelt it right woop) some wire wheel attachments for my drill but thing the angle grinder wheel would work better

Design wise I want to get a couple more bikes together and then work it all out with what I have to play with lol, I still think this is a cleaver (and fun lol) way to get to grips with working with metal

Was grinding off a few bits from the frame that I didn't need and came up with this ingenious idea to hold the frame up

http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/turbojolt/IMAG0357.jpg

hopefully get it all cut up ready to weld back together this weekend as I don't want to piss off the neighbours with the angle grinder lol

f*ck em get it cut

But I like my neighbours lol keep toying with the idea of of belting a scooter engine to it if it all holds together (and adding a forth wheel lol)

yer sure mate woul be good to see how others have gone about it lol

just been cutting up the bike frame and im not happy all the pipe is diffrent sizes so when it comes to welding it all up there will be ridges  i know its stupid but i want it to look good when finished and noone wants to donate there bikes ither (and the ones at the local shops al have chains on them  lol)

soooooooooooo im going to buy some mild steel tubing as its bound to be cheaper then buying any bikes and hopefully give me the finish im looking for :thumb:

just need some advice? where to buy it from and what size/thickness should i be looking at as it needs to hold around 16 stone (fat *******) and take a battering ;)
