I see the panic buying of fuel has started already - went to fill the cav last night (as its empty!) to find Asda looking like a scene from a post-apocalyptic hollywood movie. Also the petrol station had a big queue lol

Thought sod it, came back this morning to find queues still there (assuming not the same people from last night lol). WFT is wrong with people?! Slightest hint of fuel supply shortages and it gets made 100 times worse by muppets thinking the world is about to end in a mad max-esque fashion.

lmfao @ this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17545258) though

On Wednesday, Mr Maude's advice for drivers to store petrol - "maybe a little bit in the garage as well in a jerrycan" - was criticised by the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and the AA, who said it was potentially dangerous
Zoiks, petrol in a garage are dangerouses!

i don't think that they unions are labour controlled, or that the labour party are union controlled, i think its more of a behind closed doors partnership... but i still can't get away from the amazing parallels to 1979, when the tories took power from a labour party that had run us to the brink financially.. then we had transport strikes, coal miners strikes, riots etc... so they set about getting rid of the huge all powerful unions, and also killed off our massively innefficient nationalised industries...

fast forward to the modern day, and the public sector workers strike didn't really stop the country dead lol lol , so they are trying the fuel delivery unions, and the govt. is trying to make efficiency savings in the nhs & benefits sectors, which if not done, will cripple us forever, so i expect more of this crap to follw

hinckley is queuing too!!!!!

i just can't imagine what it will be like when the idiots actually go on strike!!!!!

there was an item on radio 5live yesterday where they were trying to understand the fuel storage rules, cos the fire brigade union has pitched in with some right cobblers........ i am actually quite an expert on them because some ar$ehole tried to stop our local garage selling more than 10L to anyone with cans because they also supplied mallory park competitors & race school with fuel, and this tit tried to annoy them as much as possible... but when we needed to buy a load of fuel on our account to run a large honda water pump, they wouldn't let us... so pedantic man donned his cape & went in search of justice & won...

rules are this..... you can only keep 10L of fuel stored in your own home...(rule from the 1920's !!!!!FFS) but if you need the fuel for your work, like we did, and use permitted cans, you can buy & carry any number of cans in any road vehicle (source, leicestershire police officer in charge of moving hazardous goods)... but if you need to store them, you need a fireproof store that is 6m away from any ignition source.... which we have... so if any of you get some jobsworth trying to put a stop to you purchasing cans of fuel, quote this & then point the idiot at trading standards (who actually control the sale & storage of fuel). pedantic mans work is done here....

ps. i convinced the garage, and they started selling fuel, and when the ar$ehole came in to complain, they told him to FRO

No (not yet), although these days there doesn't need to be lol

Some place in town is £1.60 a litre ffs lol
That happened here in 2000 - one local station whacked the price up to £2 a litre (bearing in mind, back then it was ~90p a litre). Once the strike/blockade was over, it went out of business

Makes you wonder, all the terrorists/haxxors/chinese/etc have to do is start a rumour about fuel strikes and the country falls over lol

Jack
29-03-12, 07:01 PM
Short term gain, yes. But bear in mind people will be driving less to 'save fuel' - so their average consumption over time will go down. They'll make that full tank last longer than it normally would, so won't be refueling as often as they would have on an average day/week/month. So in the longer term, the government lose out (notwithstanding any VAT gain from price hikes of course).

Kinda lucky here as the fuel stations are all big chains so the prices haven't changed. The only small independent place went out of business about 12 years ago, see previous post lol

burgo, its simple whats going on.. the people who fund the labour party are trying to cause a split between the tories & lib dems, cos if that happens, there will have to be an election, and because of the spending cuts (because of labours over spending in the past) labour are ahead in the opinion polls, this **** hasn't even got close to kicking off yet, they will try their hardest to shut this country down.

There is talk of strike action during the olympics from some unions. I doubt anything will happen though as the media would be against it and as most people think what the mail/mirror/sun/etc tell them to think, there would be no public sympathy (well less than usual). We have got loads of jobs coming in at work about potential riots at filling stations atm. One woman even rang in to say a member of staff at the garage she was queuing at appeared to have had some sort of breakdown and was crying in the shop. Lol!!

It is all complete madness. Problem is though..even if you have over half a tank or so left, your made to fill like you have to join the queue to fill up coz otherwise the stations are closing. The one at the bottom of my road has shut up shop.

Edit - although if they do decide to strike, the emergency services get allowances for fuel so ill never be able to skive off work.

till the fire brigade union went on all forms of media saying it was dangerous & stupid... so everyone with a petrol lawnmower, jetski, crosser & kiddy quad is stupid??

then their advice was, when you get to 1/2 tank, fill it up so you have enough fuel to cover any journeys you need to do... again, pretty good advice

But also all the big fuel firms with tankers full sitting off shore in the north sea waiting for the price of fuel to rise once everywhere starts running dry, then land & offload at premium price for the privilidge of waiting out at sea for a few extra days.

I normally stick about 20 quid which sees the gauge go to about half way and lasts about 7 - 9 days, but seeing as these n00bs were filling their giant Jeeps and Vans with whatever they could stick their hands on, I got £35 just in case. It'll last me about 14 - 21 days so it's aight.

It just feels like a stunt to get everyone to buy as much fuel as poss so that money can be made. 172% increase in fuel sales. A bit too convenient!

The station I went to was 134.9 the other day and today was 139.9. They had the price board switched off so no doubt as next week arrives it'll got up to the 140's.

It's getting crazy... Even if they reduced it down to £1 which was sky high at the time that would save a hell of a lot of money. People would probably go buy more fuel at every fill up anyway.

the tanker drivers are being allowed to drive an extra 2 hrs a day over what the rest of the haulage industry can, to keep up with demand, so they get a weeks overtime, just before the strike.........ask me if i'm impressed, i feel like taking a tractor & slurry tanker up to kingsbury oil terminal & backing it up to the gates, & sticking the pto in gear

The best laugh about this whole debacle,is that the zomfg'ers are people who seldom use cars/fuel-so its not even needed as mr jones goes to bowls once a week and mrs jones goes to bingo the same, they may venture for fish and chips once a flood.Pathetic.
My dad does about 80-100 miles a week in his S3, he was on 3/4 tank but still went and filled up lol

Put £40 in the Chavalier this week. Normally put in £30 (about 20 odd litres, ba**tardin' gov), but i'd gone a few more miles this week. I only fill up once a week, only end up using any extra carting it about!

TBH I might look at giving the ole girl a proper service to up the MPG a bit, maybe.....

Never noticed any long lines of morons queuing for fuel.

Was getting low in the 207 so had to bite the bullit and get some fuel. The missus finished early and after passing loads of dry filling stations she popped to our local Sainsbury's which was dead, she filled up no problems luckily as the light was on. She rang me and told me so I went there after work and it was still dead, got straight to a pump. Filled up with diesel and got over 650 miles on the range now:) should keep me going for a month ;). Same price as last week aswell (142.9p) so no price hike unlike the scamming bastids next to my work asking £1.50 a litre.

If we do run out of fuel I'll just stay at home and finish my gardening once my tank is dry, fook queing for full and paying through the nose.

On Wednesday, Mr Maude's advice for drivers to store petrol - "maybe a little bit in the garage as well in a jerrycan" - was criticised by the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and the AA, who said it was potentially dangerous

lmfao @ this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17545258) though

Zoiks, petrol in a garage are dangerouses! a woman up here is in hospital as she was tranfering fuel in jery can's in her kitchen to store in the garden and it blew up in her face

Despite what Pirate FM think, I'm from Somerset not Cornwall lol

Feckers, even told the woman I was from Somerset, but she still quoted me as being from Helston - I know I have a beard but at least my eyes aren't looking at each other :(

i find that highly offensive...only one of my eyes looks at the other one
