got a mk1 1.2 8v and was wanting to get rid of the centre silencer. is there an alternative pipe i can use or "race tube" as i think there called.

saw this on ebay for the 1.3 but it looks different shape guess it might not fit?

do you still have the original 1.2 4-1 manifold fitted?? if yes, then don't bother.

if you have upgraded to the 4-2-1 off the 1300/1400, then still don't bother, cos all it does is make your driving experience worse by creating noise in the cabin, it will add nothing to the performance as the middle box is straight thru anyway.

edit..
i just looked at the linky, and that is the std front section off the std system anyway

no ive just got the standard exhaust on the 1.2. ok well if its not worth buying a straight thru il just get a replacment one. was just wondering as the one i have on now is blowing where the centre box is. just wanted it a bit louder but guess it will be as it has no cat lool!

just get a better back box, thats where the restriction is, then get a 4-2-1 off a 1.3/1.4, it fits the std 1200 system too, & will help with a couple of hp.

mowgli is right.... the centre is straight through anyway and the back box is where your restriction is and where your exhaust 'note' is made... better back box needed... try powerflow exhausts... they got branches nationwide

If anyone really must go there, choose a good powerflow if you can where recommendations have been made by sensible people (not those who state 'it's well blindin innit, sounds is wikkkid brov'). Powerflow in the main are ****e, sound ****e and look ****e.

However, the OP makes a good choice in long life, never heard a bad thing about them :thumb:
