hi all, my afm started sticking the other day so i took it apart to give it a good clean and saw this chip that looks removable.

now i have heard its impossible to remap these ecus but does anyone know what this chip is for?

it will be a simple micro chip. not all chips are remappable.

i see, but could you replace this with a whole new chip?

it will basically be a lot of transistors on a chip.. changing for another won't magic any hp out of it..

i did find some info on swapping resistors to alter the fuelling, but i only found one source & haven't managed to verify it

a mappable chip has a lot more pins.

Given that chip will be obsolete (by about 20 generation by now) a 'new' one will cost more than doing a 150bhp 1.6 engine build lol

imho, leave well alone

ah right fair enough, was just curious lol

the ign ecu needs playing with too, and again, its resistors that need swapping.
