Hello all...

Ive had loads of XE projects over the years, and was collecting parts for my next engine installation...

I was looking for a nice saloon to house an early XE with the mk2 dizzy and my carb set up... However the saloons all seem to be very expensive for what they are, and not in such a brill condition compared to a normal hatch...

In two minds wether to carry on with the carbs, and wondering what they would be worth if i was to sell (as im thinking they may give me the extra pennies towards a mint saloon, and il just run the std managment)...

This is NOT a for sale thread, so please no Pm's about parts... I just want to be a bit more wise before making a for sale thread or ebay listing...

Ive looked around and cant really find anything similar to the parts i have to guage a rough figure with, as if its not worth much im best of just keeping.

The set up i have is as follows... (with a nice pic or two lol)...

Set of zzr1100 Carbs (from the guide on here they are a great set for the XE)

R1 Fuel Pump with bracket (for self regulating the fuel)

Trumpets for the Carbs

Choke cable (to run the choke on the carbs itself)

Brand new coil

Silicone joiners with new clips

Then of course the custom alloy inlet manifold... This was crafted by a coded engineer in the family who made it at work with their machines... (Honda)...

The flange was left in an oven for a few hours to not warp it when tig welding (as their machines are big)... The flange had 30mm length alloy pipes welded, along with two aloy vacuum pipes of a smaller bore. Then finally a section of the alloy was cut and tapped to install a brass water fitting to keep the water flow through the block. This was fitted and then trimmed & filed flat..

A lot of work went into this manifold... It was made short as i was looking at a mini conversion at the time, however any extra length needed could be made up with longer silicone...

The manifold was scanned at work (which means nothing to me) and then given to me to polish up :D

The polish isnt the greatest but it does have a bit of a shine... bar a few bits of autoglym in the welds (hence the black marks)... would wash out but i was too eager to picture them haha...

Your correct, mint saloons (or at least solid ones) are hard to find and quite rightly command good money. Took me a while to find my one.

As for the value of your set-up- personally I would pay up to about £250-£275ish. It has not been proven, ie fitted and as much as you respect your mates work again it is not a 'proven' manifold.

eBay prices tend to be Carbs - £100ish, Manifold - £100ish, R1 fuel pump - £20ish, siliicone pipes £20ish, coil £20ish so thats my reasoning for it.

Seems almost complete, but would you need a mk2 cavalier dizzy or get the standard one re-worked?

I am fitting a xe to my saloon, and will prob go down the bike carbs route as a good cost effective solution.
