treat it as a valver conversion as its also a big block engine.

check out www.valvers.com for all info and anything you don't understand just ask us!
just after checking. the new site is up and runing but not all features are available yet.

how bout the 16 valver if i wanna put one of them in wot am i gonna have 2 take off the donar car ?? ie modules an other parts ??
any help would be gratefully appriciated :?: :D
for a valver. you will need to take the engine loom back to the ecu plus the coil and module or in a later spec red top there is no coil so just the module

16v is the ultimate, but dont turn down the 8v
torque from them is amazing
and it is SUCH an easy conversion. all you need is shafts of some description and a fuel pump
nowt else - we didnt

so what you think i go for the 16 valve or the 8 ??? cos i dunno what to go for 4 the best :?:
16v for the most up to date but it (apparantly) more fiddlier to fit (wiring loom etc)
8v for ease - its more "mechanical" - again apparantly
what about welding plates/strenthening and suspension?
I was always told the 16v was better at cruising but the 8v was better for acceleration...
?

ye i know but i can always ask in here if i get stuck wotever i decide on im doing the job properly so ill b seam weldin the bay dunno bout suspension yet cos i dont know wot size wheels im putting on as im thinking about buying the wide arch kit for it
im more into accelaration rather than cruseing round but others said the 16 valve can b tuned with more bhp its just the wrk thats gotta b done thats kinda puttin me off the 16 valve

apparently the 8v and 16v are similar up to around 60-70mph, then the 16v starts pulling away from the 8v more.

oo so it sounds like ill b putting a 16 valver in this then the more speed an accelaration the better
thanx
If you are going to fit a wide arch kit Mike, you can fit 19" alloys but don't expect to do a full lock lol
18's can be got in et49 if you look for them, i can't remember what make.
You might get 19s on with a wide arch kit but its a drastic option. I won't be doin a wide arch Nova again for some time (it trys your patience a little!)

ggrrrrrr just because your fitting a wide arch kit dosent mean you can stick huge wheels on, there are still the same problems, what you are able to do is run lower offset, yes you can fit 18-19" wheels but you will still need to do some drastic work to fit them.
16" with a decent offset should go straight on without any mods (with the right tyres).

so looking for the best option on wheel an tyre size bearing in mind i throw the car round corners an stuff so i dont want any rubbing on the arches

wot are 18s like on the car do u know if u get any rubbing on full lock :?:

i dont want it to look all wrong with having smaller wheels but i dont wanna go to extreme by puttin 19s on if im gonna have loads of problems with runnin it on that size  :?:

i'm putting one in mine!!!!
u will need driveshafts, seam welding, strengthing bars, modified engine mounts......it is a ot easier than the valver lump to transfer!

ye i think iv decided on the 8valve now just purely 4 ease of fitting if i want more power i can always replace it with the 16 theres loads in breakers yards here

you can't use wider drive shafts unless you are runin wide track suspension. we are on about a wide arch kit at this stage aren't we?
I built this wide arch Nova last year and ran a 2L 16v.

Its a Pro-tec kit. don't be expecting a bodykit in primer ready to paint. a wide arch kit for a Nova is for rallying and are rough finish. it took me many weeks to get it looking right. there isn't any cutout for headlights/indicators in the wings. same on rear quaters.
i cut slits in the rear standard arches, folded them back and up and welded them to the inner arch, then sealed up.
the front wings are a direct replacement but the rear quaters have to be rivoted to the car just under the back windows, around the door ope etc
I ran a Gp A wide track kit also from Pro-Tec(T.A.S) and when using this the old et49 rule applies. (the arches were wider but track is wider too)
The wide track kit is all rosejointed and you would have no bushed up front so its a personal choice. i didn't find it all that rough.
Wide the wide track kit the car will be the same width as an Astra/Cav so you can use the longer drive shaft making things easier for a valver transplant.

this next photo shows where i cut out the standard turret tops to weld in the new flat ones to take the adjustable top mounts.
More than happy to help with any problems.
