ive noticed when the sensor is screwed into the lambda that it only just sticks out the end of boss

does the boss need grinding down or is it fine like that

I would say needs cutting so the sensor is in the gas flow to get an accurate reading

nope it just says weld the boss to the exhaust prefferably in the 12 oclock position to stop condensation damaging it when not running

id cut the boss in half then weld it to your exhaust.

is that the lc-1? was going to order one up tonight.

If it was me id tend to think that that was the right size if innovate supplied it that way. I know the audi s4 uses the same sensor and if you de cat them the the exhaust flow is too fast and dosnt give the right reading. people extend the boss to stop the engine warning light coming on.

So does anyone have one fitted that came like this? Just so I know before I weld the boss on

Wrong boss, you need one that is about 15mm max thick.

That's the on that came with the box it was all sealed so nothing had been swapped

I suspect that boss is for use when mounting in the manifold where a turbo is used. Most people move them further away from the turbo which kind of misses the point. The longer boss is to help stop some of heat being soaked by the sensor. If it's a non turbo set-up though do as Stu says.

Just got a reply from innovate

"No, use the bung as is. The bung is 1" tall to best protect the sensor."

Stuart

To best protect it from giving you any readings lol.....

Yeah I was thinking that as well lol I think I'll trim it a bit so it sticks in further and curve it a bit so it sits better on the exhaust pipe do welding

I bought one from demon tweaks, I have a spare, mild steel though

This is the one supplied with my aem wide band as stu says may affect the reading, and is spare

About 10 mm which would include the entire sensing part
