Good morning all you late nighters lol.

Ive just finished work, and been thinking all evening / the past few weeks about an engine conversion, basically, my saloon is a 1.0 4spd OHV, its okay but i want a bit more poke,

ive heard the 1.2 carb lump is moren economical. but im a bit of a noob with this sort of thing, ive done exhausts, gearbox's, driveshafts, electrical bits n bobs,

What is the easiest engine converion to do? ive seen 1.2 8v corsa b local had a smack i may be able to get cheap but not sure how hard it would be to convert the nova, i wanted 1.4 power really, as ill be tuning the 8v up a bit, 1.3s are hard/expencive to come by so thats probably a no, and 1.6 is hard to come by unless i go astra,

Any advice appreciated,
cheers

the easiest concersion by far is the 1.2carb, 1.3 carb or 1.4 carb. failing that, the 1.4mpi & 1.6 mpi are pretty easy but need a fuel tank swap.

No they dont
Theyre better with a fuel tank swap below 1/4 of a tank when cornering very hard.

well, with a swirl pot fitted, then you could get away without a tank swap, but running round with no less than 1/2 tank of fuel is a pain.

It is i agree. But gte/gsi tanks are getting increasingly difficult to find now.

do they even fit on a saloon model?? or is it a more door type thing where they don't fit?

1.4 carb sounds ideal,

What do you all mean about swirl pots? I get the general gist of it but im unsure if I have one atm or not?

if you are fitting a carb engine, then you don't need a swirl pot.

a switl pot is needed when fitting an injectiuon engine while using a carb tank as the fuel tank dosnt have a internal swirl pot so when the tanks low in fuel and your hard conering all the fuel goes to the side the the pump can suck any of it up

best bet if fitting an injection egnine is to use an injection tank
