I will be changing my first ever CV joint tomorrow lol so what tools will I need to remove the knackered joint and fit a new one?

i managed it with a screwdriver and long nose pliers as it dosnt matter if you mash the old circlip

Do I need any circlip pliers?

they will make the job easier but are not essential, thats where the long nose pliers come in, it took me about half hour to change a cv with the above tools

Just we have a set of circlip pliers at work...Ill borrow them over the weekend, should make the job easier then

If you have circlip pliers it is definately easier!

Loosen the hub nut whilst car is on the ground, then drop the bottom ball joint (13mm) and strut to hub bolts (2 x 19mm) and then pull drive shaft from hub, prize back the boot - clean the grease away, loosen circlip and off it pops.

Forgot to mention it was on a Corsa C lol all done now anyway...driveshafts are 30mm nuts IIRC
