i went on the pikey hunt again today and ive managed to get hold of these...but i cannot find anything about them online.

MPJ Gauge and Tool Co.

theres two which are in imperial and one in metric.

Not exactly the same gauge but this is similar PRESSME (http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/metrology/slot-width-gauge-recommendation-187813/#post1186637) quote 9, also it maybe worth asking on there for more detail.

Not mega money on the scale [pun intended] of that one he bought lol

That looks like a type bore dial gauge ?

bore dial gauge for small diameters, probably used as a comparitor when measuring batches of tubes.
