Have been browsing the articles section, and nowhere does it state how to do a TD conversion. Now obviously the mechanical side of things is pretty straight forward, like hubs, engine mounts, lines and tank etc, however the wiring side of things could be a right pain in the ass.

I don't suppose that anyone can do like a *how to* or something mainly for the wiring?? Like how to make sure you get the loom right etc and what goes to what and where. I'd like something to refer to, otherwise I'm going to screw something up. Which, obviously, I don't want to do.

you'll need a TD chassis leg for starters, and finding one is a near impossible task lol

as for wiring, there are about 3. all water pipes are different, rad is different, header tank is different. then you need to mount a diesel filter etc etc.

A chassis leg?? To mount a 1500TD?? That one is new to me...

So if I was to say I had a nova with rotten arches (I have repair panels for this) and sills, and a few other small problems like a gearbox is quite possibly in need of replacing, shims needing doing and an inlet gasket, it would be worth repairing said nova as opposed to doing a conversion to a better shell??

Yes, the engine is Isuzu, not vauxhall so the mount sits in the chassis leg, much further back than a vauxhall mount.

hold on i'll find you a picture...

massive job to convert to diesel, you would need to buy a diesel nova ideally

Exactly, and If you buy a diesel nova as a donor, you may as well just use the diesel nova!

Legend has it that if you kill a Nova TD then Balley will actually come round to your house and beat you up burst into tears lol

I'd say name your price tbh lol keep it a year or two longer and you could buy a small island lol

In counts build thread, he used a donar, even then its not a simple conversion

Sorry guys but why cant you just cut the hole in the original leg. Then strenghten it up and add some captive nuts. Hardly hard work.
Fuel tank and lines are easy.
Wiring is easy, you dont need the fancy glow plug controller they have under the dash, just use a big relay and a push button.
Hoses maybe hard to come across, and also the radiators are expensive but other than that its not to hard to do really!

I would say give it a go pal.

is that mount hole not the same as the corsa B with the 16v engine, aircon and power steering, looks similar shape?

Thanks for all your info guys. I knew it wasn't going to be easy to do this but I was t quite expecting the uphill battle it now appears to be.

Balley I would give it a go however I am on a time limit, a small budget and I don't have all the correct tools yet. I do however have the time to repair the TD I own. Only problem will be finding the new sills that's I'll need.
