wont idle when cold and idles iratically when up to temperature

my nova 1.3 sr wont start when cold unless you give it some revs and then will cut out if you dont keep the revs up.
and then when it warms up the idle goes like a yo yo ranging 600rpm to 1500rpm
can someone help plz

have you changed the plugs recently?

the plugs where changed in september but done no milage since reily
it has autochoke
and where is the fuel filter located because as far as i know it hasnt had one in a while
how would i check the fuel pump and diapham

the fuel pump might be full of crap, if there is no fuel filter fitted. & at low revs, it might not be producing much fuel.

the advance/retard diaphragm is dead easy to test.. pull the little vacuum pipe out of the back of the carb when it is running & suck on the pipe as hard as you can, if the engine note changes, then it is ok, if not, then the diaphragm has a hole in it.

where would be the bests place to put a fuel filter and what size ends would i need for standard pipes

you fit it on the rh inner wing before the pump. just get a universal plastic one, & some 12-20mm jubilee clips

just follow the fuel pipe back from the pump to the arch & fit one where there is the most room.

spray some brake cleaner around the manifold etc, if the engine note drops it's an air leak.

the bits didnt turn up till last thing today so i will do it tomoz
in the bits ive got a metal canister inline fuel filter that was ment for the car (where is it)
and a plastic inline fuel filter that im going to stick on the inner wing

the metal type are for the gte & fit under the back near the efi pump. the carb version never had one from the factory.

its running a little bit better but ive treated myself to a proper weber carb convertion kit for the nova from fast road cars
