hi all ,ive got a 1.6spi bottom end ,would a 1.4 8v sri head be ok to fit ,as im wanting a head with circular inlet ports ,the valves are the same size on both the 1.4 & the 1.6 spi head. the the only other difference is the combustion chamber on the 1.4 sri head is smaller.any info would be greatly appreciated :thumb:

the 1.6 was an friendly spi out of an astra ,the 1.4 was from a corsa b ,both were low mileage ,i know wen i had my last nova sr 1.3 rep it had a 1.2 head on it ,that worked ok ,the local scrappy has come up with some real bargainns recently :)

it will raise the compression quite alot which could cause you issues

ok, i take it the sri head is already bought?

it might be a bit more compression than the e16se, & you may need to use super unleaded to make it run right.

it'll be way better than 1.6 spi anyway....

oh, and blank off the awful egr valve.

cheers mowgli ,yep ive got the sri head on the shelf ,the combustion chambers in the pistons are no deeper on the 1.6 spi from the 1.4sri,so basically itl be the same set up as the 1400ccs engine ,only itl be a 1.6 multipoint.

It's the chambers in the head not pistons that is different
