Those petitions must be the biggest waste of time to mankind

Fcuk all happens by doing them

Not true Edd, if they get enough signatures a couple of mp's might have a chat about it... If they have time

Either pay the price at the pump or get the bus.

They need 100k votes to raise it in the house of commons. Even then, there's no guarantee anything will be done about it.

What should be campaigned for is to make the government properly apply taxation to fuel. At the moment, you pay the cost of the fuel THEN duty THEN VAT on top of all that - i.e. you're paying 20% tax on a tax (the duty), which is daft. If they made fuel duty tax-exempt, so you pay VAT on the fuel price, THEN fuel duty on top, that would bring the pump price down instantly by about 11p a litre. To make up the loss in tax revenue, start taxing aviation fuel. Thats more likely to be pushed through parliament, rather than other measures IMO.

It's 100k to get it on the list of things that they might consider debating at 1am on a Monday morning when only the most useless of useless mp's are forced to work lol

I don't know how true this is but it does sound to make sense .
If enough people refused to use one company for example esso , within a week they would have to reduce prices.
I know it isn't down to one company and it isn't that simple .

Fuel prices are wayyyyyyyyyy hire now than when we had the protests and blocked refineries, but what can you do? Fuel is now over TWICE the price per litre now then when I started driving but as previously said, if you can't afford it then change your mode of transport, I choose to buy petrol because I love driving my S3 and I will still by petrol even if it cost more in the future.

Boycotting a petrol station will do fcuk all, all that does is hurt the franchise owner and not the fuel companies.

Fair point.
I've got rid of the Vxr and come to terms with the fact that I will have to run my van as it is much better on fuel.

Pricing people off the road is great.... Less traffic to get in my way :)

Yup the brother sold his Vectra VXR and is putting his old vectra GSI 2.5 back on the road for better economy lol it's still **** on fuel but the vxr was proper brutal, iirc I get around 24 mpg so not to bad and I'm pre emission based road tax so slightly better than the near £500 a year for the vxr vectra lol

I'll still be paying the prices as I don't plan on ever using public transport for my day to day going ons but I'll happily use my van in a protest lol

you try getting a bus or train in cornwall that works out cheaper than driving...its not possible.

Jack

Even Somerset is terrible for public transport. Boeing suggested we commute to Bristol on train/bus etc, we collectively laughed in their face lol

I love driving my S3 and I will still by petrol even if it cost more in the future.
At what price per litre would it become too expensive though?

The government just keep scamming more money everyday out of us.Its working people that take the hit everyday.
I wish they would legalise ganja and put tax on it and sell it in shops like fags.I dont smoke the stuff whatsoever by the way.I just firmly believe they would make a killing out of it,and it would make alot of money, its certainly not any worse than alcohol.

If you don't like the cost of fuel, electric or gas its really simple use less or don't buy it.

Problem solved

Jack

Can't if there's no alternative to commute with

mowgli

the other issue is to move house..... this country used to have a massively mobile workforce, but home ownership & more specialised work has put paid to that....

can't you lot look at buying a bus?? i saw a thing on the telly once where a bloke in LA actually ran a bus to commute to work & he drove in 50 odd other people, used the bus lanes, parked somewhere & went to work, then he drove the bus home each night. the people collectively paid for its runnig & it was way cheaper than cars or car sharing..

Jack
18-03-12, 12:52 PM
That was actually considered lol

Thats a response you would have written before you did your lengthy ban.No thought in that at all!

Plenty of thought really, you must know people that moan about the price of fuel all the time but still drive to the shop wich is just up the road rather then walking or jumping on a bike, people seem to think there entitled to everything now days fuel gas and electric are all a commodity you don't have to use or have them yer it makes life nicer/easier but why shouldn't you have to pay for that its the way of the world, the saying use to be 'nothing in life is for free' nowadays everyone wants/demands it for free

Andy

So hows about if you need a vehicle for work and are self employed? or the public transport in your area is non existant and work is a 20mile commute? course people NEED it.
And electric and gas aint a commodity, you NEED heating and hot water.
People moan because they are sick to fukk of paying way more than needs be for things,it has never been so expensive to live and peoples wages dont go up at the same rate as what everything else does!!

Stuart

I save water by not washing the Cars :)
Heating and electric are luxuries..... You don't 'need' it, we did ok for the previous few thousand years before the industrial revolutions.

Who made the choice to be self employed? who decided to rent/buy a house in a area with no pubelick transport?

tj, you are oversimplifying it....

there are so many considerations in choosing where you live & work.. people have families, then there are schools to consider, people get mortgages, or rent a place long term, then their work moves or changes...

when you look at the cost of fuel, it hasn't risen much over the years.. in 1986, it cost me about 6 hrs wages to fill my car up.. these days i can fill my car for 6hrs wages.... everything has gone up in price.. you used to be able to go out & have a brilliant night on the piss then stop for a doner on the way home for £20... what's it cost now??

Andy
18-03-12, 06:45 PM
i spent £90 last sat night inc taxi's

I see what your saying mowgli but I honestly feel my point still stands, the only two real problems with my point is 1.99.9% of the public love to moan anyway and 2. I'm illiterate so can't full put my veiw across in this form

Andy
18-03-12, 07:10 PM
1.99.9% is a very small minority.
I would say 99% love to moan, the rest are stoned or jacking up heroin lol

By my maths, thats taxi to town, one pint, a kebab and a walk home with about £0.37p in your pocket

MK999
18-03-12, 07:34 PM
Bus into town, quid something, kebab/food 3 quid, shared taxi 3 quid each max, leaves £5-6 for drinking, quid a bottle etc and you're laughing lol

If you include predrinking costs add a fiver :d

Andy
18-03-12, 07:35 PM
Laughing with £6 to drink? i dont think thats a laughing matter at all lol

I'm a seasoned pro at getting pissed on sod all money :d

Night out in Manchester cost me £4 entry to some crap club somewhere, and about £8 worth of Vodka... mate lives 15mins walk outside the town centre and I walked in pissed lol

Stuart
18-03-12, 07:42 PM
It's odd, I'd get wasted on £20 at expensive Friday club nights, but then nuke £40 at £1 a drink night and still feel sober
