Hi all slighty diverse question but I was looking at using a A-frame to move my nova about. The question is is classed as a unbraked trailer at 750kg's. But the rules say
Trailer has no brakes (Unbraked Trailer)
Maximum 750kg gross trailer weight or half the towing vehicle's kerb weight - whichever is less.
Does that mean that's including or plus the trailer weight. I'm hoping my nova is less than 800kg.
Any help guys

Legally anything over 750kg has to be braked, if the towing car weighs less than 1500kg though you can only tow half the vehicle weight if unbraked eg 1200kg car only 600kg unbraked you can get braked a frames though they attach to the cars handbrake to make it braked

These sort questions come up regularly, did you pass your car licence before or after 1st Jan 1997.......... i.e. do you hols a cat B licence post '97 or B + E pre 97?

It will be the works transit I'd use, so the weight on that point ain't a issue. As for the braked ones it has to brake all 4 wheels via the cars brake pedal, that's why I'm asking lol it's also about the GTW if its the 750kg trailer then it can equal 4.25 tonnes compared to the 3.5 tonnes normally

Towed Nova would also need to be taxed/tested/insured

I am fairly knowledgeable on the subject of trailers/licences, my father used to run a driving school cars/LGV/PCV

Hi Royston I think I've asked similar questions above biting was trying to get away from the extra licence for the short term that's why I was looking at A-frames because when the kit is on the car it's classed as a trailer hence the 750kg thing :thumb:

A standard 1.3 Nova SR full trim is @780kg to start with............
Is the car stripped? Has it got a big lump in the front?
Bit of reading

Looks as if there are more changes for new drivers from Jan 2013

It's a completly stripped out xe with a cage, but with fibreglass doors, bonnet, boot & wings also running a obp pedal box so another 5kg's plus from the original setup
