I have a standerd 1200 merit mk1 with manual choke.

I'm looking to make it a little bit faster as I'm always late for work, I have a 1300 inlet manifold but no carb or weber. Anyone have or any ideas on what I should put on so I can make some use of it!
If anyone have exhaust system that would bolt strait on to my 8v engine.
Or anything u can concider me bying to make if some what faster.

a 1300 or 1400 bottom end is by far the cheapest tuning trick for this engine.. you are looking at a gain of 20hp, for minimal insurance costs.

the std carb will cope with about 90hp....

you can squeeze a couple of hp out by using a 1300 4-2-1 manifold & downpipe

but sticking a bigger carb onto the std lump will only cost you more in petrol.

If I to get a 1300 manifold would I need to get the rest of the exhaust system Would it be a direct replacement on the 1989 nova I have?

Cheers

if you buy a std 1300 manifold & downpipe, it will fit to the rest of the 1200 stsyem fine... you'll only get a couple of hp with it though...

bolt on bits won't gain you enough to stop you being one set of traffic lights late for work. I suggest spending money on an alarm clock lol

^^lmao @ stuart but i would seriously consider the bottom end from a 1300 and the 1200 head a 1400 or 1600cam and exhaust oh and maybe a set of twin 40's or bike carbs

basically you have your cam carrier cylinder head then your block (where the pistons are and gearbox bolts to) also known as the bottom end

Guys, this is a wanted thread in the buying/selling area - can we keep the posts related to the sale/trade of items with the OP.

If you want to know what will/won't make your car go quicker, start a thread in the mechanical forum :thumb:
