i have bought a set of solid mounts for my xe conversion but when i looked at the drivers side mount it....

1. Is not threaded like the original.
2. Doesnt seem to line up like the original.

Do i need to drill a hole in the chassis leg to put a bolt through from inside the wheel arch?

a few pics to help show what i mean....

That isnt a drivers side mount, its the front gearbox mount

Drivers side has 2threads just like the original

is the front gearbox mount not the one with a single bolt sticking up at the top Adam?
this one wont fit into the bracket for the gearbox one i dont think?

For what car though? The Nova/F20 front mount has one bolt sticking up from the middle.

Threaded parts should fit through the original holes without mods.

Inside tube is not usually threaded so yes you need a bolt. If you grind the head down slightly, fit it with the bolt through you can usually slide a spanner up the back to tighten it.

Lol that must be why it doesnt line up, does that mean that the one with the single fixing for the car goes on the drivers side?

The one pictured is the drivers mount, you have to nut and bolt it, but do you have a plating kit fitted, this will cause the bolts on the mount to not line up with the holes on the chassis mount, you will need to grind a few mil off the back surface of the mount for it to fit properly!

Thats a drivers side mount.

Long nut and bolt needed. Thats what i did on mine IIRC.

Thanks Pete, I thought it was the drivers side.

Don't suppose you have any pics of yours???

You can just make out the drivers mount...

I fitted it before fitting the engine. It was certainly tight against the chassis leg.

Yeah I have the plating kit fitted, is there any strength of bolt I can get? Or are they all the same?

You could get the mount threaded? Mine are not threaded and with a plating kit welded on the chassis leg it's a tight fit to get a bolt head between the mount and leg,

Another top idea bazil;)

I'd get the mount tapped and ask then to supply a bolt that fits

i use a Jag xtype front crank pully bolt lol
