Yep it's going to be hard to get insured Dave, most companies don't touch under 19's. Guesstimate if you find someone 5K.

With your postcode, zilcho chance as it stands IMO.

Flux needs 19+, Sky need 2 years NCB and probably won't like your postcode. The only thing I can suggest is wait til 19 and get that extra year NCB and then you may be able to get something. But even then it will be stupidly expensive. OR look to get a restricted mileage policy with a specialist, but to pull that off it would ideally need to be a second car and even then you may be a bit young. You still got that Corsa?

Moral of the story, check insurance before conversion!

I was in your shoes a couple of years back, only becoming feasible now i'm 21 with 3 years ncb, even then its not cheap compared to insuring an already fast car. But yea as said before, an 18/19year old in a relatively quick car is asking for trouble imo. Have you tried a 1.6 insurance? There awesome fun to drive and i managed to get insured an a 1.6 conversion when i was 19 for 1600 odd (iirc)

Insurance on a "normal" car is 3-4k+ at your age, so i would be very suprised if anyone at all will cover you.


I dont want to preach or anything but theres a reason you cant get covered, you drive a 150hp nova like you would a 1L it will put you into the nearest wall. Especially at such a young age when you are trying impress your mates and women (we've all been there lol)

I AM NOT doing it illegally, had that car 6 years bought it when i was 12 and put every penny ive ever had into it, not going to give the ol bill the peasure if taking it off me

Indeed we have all been there, I acquired an anti social driving order within a week of owning an xe at 19
