Hello,

I had to swap engines in my nova after the cambelt went.

I have bought a 2nd hand engine from a vauxhall breakers.

The engine is slightly different in that my distributer will not fit into the new engine and also on the alternator side there is some sort of actuator/valve with two pipes coming from it.

Now I need some advice on what to do???

Look forward to hearing from you. :)

Sound like your describing the mechanical fuel pump, its probably a carbed engine you bought

What we are thinking of doing is this...

Swapping my original cam and cam case onto the new engine and that should solve the two problems.

Will this be ok?

Should be fine, its the head ports that might be different

How can we check this? Thank you for your advice.

Take both inlets off and check the shape of them

You would be best to check the engine numbers, they are on the flat under no 4 exhaust port, you may need to give it a bit of a scrub with wire wool an wd40 to reveal it.

The manifold fits...the outlets on the head are slightly larger than the hole in the manifold but once fitted it will give a good seal.

Would my cam be ok in this engine?

1. a 1.2 can cope with a cambelt failure, you just need a new belt.
2. we need to know a couple of details, like what reg is your car.

3. where are you, as i might be interested in the bits you have left if you are chucking them out...
