Basically I want some info.

Was having a general nosy around my dash, and I started taking it apart around the clocks. Now it's a little obvious how to get the clock surround and the part of the dash on the left as you look at it, around the two middle vents. Now as I'm an idiot, I could not for the life of me work out how on earth you remove the bit on the right as you look, that contains the headlight switch, the fog light switch and the adjuster control panel.

And and all help will be greatly appreciated as it has been doing my head in for the past two days. Pictures and idiot proof instructions required please! Rep will be given.

Hi, you need to remove the headlight switch and there is a Phillips screw behind that holding it on lol

Some headlight switchs come out easy and other are a pain

screw is underneath the headlight switch, you have 2 options, break the switch trying to take it off, or break the mount in the dash lol

Break the switch is easiest and then buy one from someone that's removed a whole dash and can get to the back of it, or broken the mount off breaking a full car.

One lesson I learnt was you can't pull on the switch as is snaps in your fingers lol

Iirc you can use 2 thin small screw drivers from the back of the switch, between the switch body and the plastic housing but it is awkward as your working backwards blind lol

If it does break there's plenty of people on here who will have spares, depends how badly you want that trim off?

Yeah I have tried that and it is a right pain. Guess I shall be getting a new switch before I try removing it then :)

They really aren't that bad, I've had mine out several times and not broken it. Just apply a bit of finness and skill and you'll be fine lol As Chris said, use 2 very small screwdrivers down either side and you can pry it out. Pulling the knob off first allows you a little more room

I used an IC remover cut in half so the two prongs were separate. The tangs on the end are just the job to get the switch out, must've done it tens of times over the years with no breakages. One of these:

Yep - use some L shaped metal tangs, with a real small lip on the L . I used some old tweasers I pulled apart and then bent the ends to fit into the hidden slot behind the lip of the headlight switch.

Insert at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions and give it a tug !
