5 Speed gearbox with 4 speed shifter

I've read something about this on here a while ago but can't find it!

What do I need to do to make my 4 speed shifter have 5th gear?

i did nothing

some say you need to cut a tab off

i saw this too on the gear stick oposite side of the reverse if i remember correctly

Yes - pull up gaiter and chop off the white plastic bit that sticks out and acts as a stop for the gearlever on the right hand side. Its a pain to cut through as its metal inside the plastic.

then make sure you are using the 5 speed shifter box on the gearbox, & not the original 4 speed one.....(even though some have a reverse+1-5 mark on them, they don't work

i second this, my original 4 speed shifter had 1-5 on it but wouldnt get 5th
