After a long time away from here I finally fell back inlove with my nova again last weekend!

I was on the search for an engine and I was adiment I was going v6 but I couldn't decide wether or not to cut the nova up so badly :/

THEN... This little beauty came up today for £500 plenty of mot and a weeks tax, it's had new lifters h/g belt clutch etc etc... It doesn't tap from cold make any funny noises or anything it's just about mint!

Iv decided that untill iv started work and got the nova prepped this is going to be my daily for a while... Here's the pics.. Just picked it up so itl be weshed and cleaned tomorrow..

And the only bit of rust iv found...

http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh431/danpuntosport/f919f413.jpg

The only fault with it is I think the power steering... It seems to pull back on itself when going right mainly like trying to pull against you? It sometimes happens even when sat just turning the wheel...

147k but its got all the relevant paper work etc for a lot of new things the engines had, it doesn't tap from cold or anything.. And it pulls very well :) I think I'm going to run it for a while thow before I strip it.

If you strip a perfectly good cav ill neg rep you forever lol

And yes i know i stripped one, but it wasnt perfectly good, it was past saving, riddled with rot and was a rolling vosa magnet and dangerously bodged to pass a very bent mot!!

big 5 spokes suit a car proper old skool :)

got to b 17s tho as 15s dont suit a cav at all imo

Homes the engines in this thing? Should be out and ready to be put into something decent by now ;)
(jokes) Get some respectable wheels maybe a little suspension drop and you got yourself a decent daily smoke about.

The wheels do let it down but I'm not to fussed lol it will be going on some 17s unsure what yet thow.

Spud the mot ends in October so if it fails it will get stripped, I'm going to run it for a while thow as iv washed it today and it comes up nicely..

Quick question... Do the turbo front bumper and skirts fit?

Pics.

As per the post on mig pie... Will the bumper fit with the lights or are they different and need a different grill aswell?

pie
26-02-12, 02:24 PM
bumper will fit with no probs buddy as the metel bar under the lights dont change and that hold the grill on :thumb:

Jack

Don't fit GSi kit IMO as the rear bumper will look daft.

Lowered, wheels, ditch the fart cannon exhaust and it would look miles better. Leave the engine alone, don't put it in a Nova lol

Danb1987
26-02-12, 07:59 PM
Haha the exhaust makes te towbar look cool 8) just kidding lol

To be honest I like it alot more than I thought I was going to... I just saw it as an engine but there's 255 left on the road so it would be silly to break it!

Plans are.. Lower it slightly, iv just fitted some wheels I had laying round it looks like a 4x4 at standard height!
Change the exhaust for something slightly more subtle and get it as clean as I can.

I need to do something with the interior thow as it "old" an the missus disapproves haha

Hopefully vboa will bring me some goodies :D

sod spending on the car, put some glass in your front room windows... it must be draughty as hell

Danb1987
27-02-12, 12:34 PM
Haha I like the breeze plus the steels keeps it warm through summer ;)

Pie... Iv renad that the rears fit ok but what about the fronts? from what iv seen no Corsa/nova ones will have the correct spring rate?

mowgli
27-02-12, 12:37 PM
i don't think he meant real springs...... it was meant as 'springs to mind'

Ok so a little update.... Had my daughter on Sunday morning :D here she is :)

http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh431/danpuntosport/3cd113e1.jpg

Not really had time to work on the car but iv managed to get it lowered and fit some oem mudflaps fitted to try and avoid the 19s throwing up so much dirt onto the car.

I will admit that the front suspension on these things are a rite pain in the **** to do!! I went for a 60/40 drop!

Few pics... Couple More to follow when I turn the comp on.

Nice clean Cav. That must've been the last of the XE's as my bro has a L reg White 16v which has the Ecotec lump in it. I too will side with Spudly and say don't break it. Plenty of XE's around already out. Keep the Cav as there aren't many good examples of them in one piece.

Wheel wise you want minimum 16" - my brother has Softstars fitted.

I'd maybe get rid of the towbar to tidy up the rear and maybe go for some turbo rear lights.

Didn't know they did bonnet struts for the Cav.

Danb1987
14-03-12, 08:53 PM
I think there omega struts?

I'd like to get rid of the towbar but I can see it coming in pretty handy at some point lol

How can you tell the exact model to put I into the how many left website?
I don't think there can be to many about tbh, the wheels will stay for a while as they are as the tread is mint and they don't rub so I can't complain :) I'd like a set of softstars thow they look nice.

Cool... I'll tell my bro as he was looking for some bonnet struts.

I'll try get some pics up of my bro's Cav.

I might look at the bonnet struts too lol

Just saw your comment about the lights - I used good ol' Halfords satin black (I always have a load of that sat around lol). But when doing the indicators I gave a coat over the usual bits then a light dust over the diffuser so as to stop it from looking so silver. Looks much better IMO as the diffuser doesn't stand out so much

Think I have a pic somewhere mid-paint to show it better....

As per thus - background one painted, foreground one unpainted

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/razorjack/Cars/Cav/IMAG0539.jpg

Both painted up, the one on the right looks a bit darker here due to the light:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/razorjack/Cars/Cav/IMAG0541.jpg

Doesn't affect the light output at all and looks a lot better I think.

Top tip jack! I thought about trying to pry the coloured lens out but gave it a miss... I will definatley give it a shot now thow, hopefully il not totally ruin the lens thow :( that would be a killer lol I nearly snapped it trying to split them last time.
