Hi, can someone help me please, ive had a look to see if i can find my engine number, is this it?... http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/427647_327324837318747_100001236996871_986236_4202 51764_n.jpg
It says " R90 4/2 726 " does that seem right? have i got the right number?
Also when i change colour, do i just right "Black" or do i need a code or something? Cause i sprayed it with rattle cans lol
Also i need to know the cylinder cappacity for the c16xe i know its a 1.6 but its actually 1596cc or something like that?
Any info would be good, thanks

No, thats the part number. The engine number is on the slanted edge at the front of the engine where it meets the gearbox casing. It will be hard to read, they don't seem to be stamped very deeply.

Edit: For colour you just specify the base colour, so black is fine. The CC of the C16 is 1598

Nope, that's not it either :)

Have a look at this pic:

The engine number is on the slanted bit next to the flywheel between it and the oil filter location. The numbers arn't embossed they are stamped lightly. You'll probably have to clean it up - degrease and sand with fine emery and then use a torch and magnifier if you have to...it ain't easy to read.

Has anyone got any ideas? I can't make out the number.. What else can I do? Is there any other way of registering it or is this the only way?

As I said before, fine emery paper to clean the block surface and then degrease. You could always try using pencil and paper and doing a 'rubbing' ooh err lol Took ages to read mine off with a torch and lots of pissing about, especially as it was in the car at the time.

Yeah mines in the car aswell lol I've too out the radiator and front bumper off to get access to it though. Umm I've tried that cleaned it all up but am really struggling to see it still :/ if I can't make the number out, what can I do? / what would you do? Its really p*ssing me off now! :( I need it registered before I can get it back on the road lol cause police keep hasseling me lol

I know plenty here have/would suggest making a number up, but if you keep getting stopped that's probably not a good idea. Can you even make out any numbers? Has it been ground off? Even if you only get a partial or perhaps read a number wrong it's better than nothing both of these situations are explainable.

I did think about that :/ or I do have a x16xe in the garden that does look a little cleaner, maybe I could use that 1 if I can make it out, will be easier as its out of the car too. And nope not ground off but it was like a little corroded I think I can see some / partial, but its soo hard, as you said though I'm gonna try get a magnifier and see if that may help, if not ill just do the x16xe or make up a number, I suppose aslong as it says 1598cc and an engine number to back it up they should be fine with it ( aslong as its not stolen anyway lol ) but I know both my engines aren't stolen so its all good. Well thanks for your help.. I will update you as I go lol
