Interior door handles

Right am i just being stupid or can the interior door handles not be removed?
Im making new door cards for my track day loon and want to get the interior handles off to spray them black but just cant figure out how :s

If anybody has any ideas please let me know

The door latch release or the door pull/armrest? The latch release lever housing just pushes forward & unclips. The door armrest, if an extended one needs the two scews removing then rotate the handle upwards and pull it outwards to release the top fixing.

You'd be better off buying a pair of black ones and the plastic surrounds instead of painting them IMO. GSis and some mk1s had them in black.
