I would not bother, use a good primer(Resin primer is best or a zinc primer), Gravitex and finish with 1 pack mixed body colour(Brush paint is fine and covers better).
That is what I did on the Sport shell that Edd now has...

Do you just brush the primer on too?
I'm with NovaSport, no idea why you'd want to use Hammerite. I brushed on 2pack over stonechip and its a lovely finish.
Iain, when brushing 2k how long did you have before the brush/paint was setting?

I have hammerite on the underside of mine
Ages! I think I mixed it up with the specified amount of hardener and no thinners and don't remember it start going off before I'd finished.
Ive used hammerite before, just pored a bit of thinners in and slapped 3 coats on lol
was 12 years ago and I didn't know about half the products that are avallible now, it never chipped tho
my engine bay is hammerited...lol

Only problem with Hammerite is compatibility with other paints, it is very difficult if not impossible to paint over and can sometimes be hard to apply, it's like you are trying to paint over grease
