temp gauge problem

hey all

im getting to the end of my rally car rebuild and ive noticed that the temprature gauge goes streight to the red once the ignition is switched on :/ just after a bit of help with what the cause may be :)

you must have a short, is it the temp sender?

you've not got it mistakenly wired into the oil switch?

possiby the wireies on the oil switch :/ not the best when it comes down to wiring ha it was working before i pulled the engine out :(
