Bit of an odd project but a serious one!

Went to the doc's today after passing some blood at the weekend,

Had a rectal exam and no problems found, now I've been referred to the rectal clinic for further tests :(

Bit of a shoite thread I know lol

But it could be a simple case of hemeroids or anything upto bowel cancer :(

To say I'm worried is an understatement ! Anyway I'm posting this to show that at the age of 33 you should always take your health as your highest priority and always get yourself checked as soon as something looks wrong !

So I went to the doctors this morning at 8:30 am after a brief chat I was asked to drop my kegs and lie on my side for a " check "

I thought ok, after the check I was told I'd be referred to the hospital at the nearest opportunity for a bowel exam!
I'm a bit upset and want an answer!

Hopefully I'll have an update soon.

If something is wrong get it checked post!

I know of a guy on here that if he didn't get a lump checked it would have been a hell of a lot worse by now, but younger folk shy away when things go wrong, they shouldn't, they shouldn't be embarrassed,

Just waiting on an appointment for further tests.

The doctor did say the fesh blood is a better sign than congealed blood. The congealed blood can indicate problems far up the intestine etc where as fresh blood indicates lower down, so hopefully they will find the problem without extensive searching.

Yep, red blood is usually a 'good' sign, as stuff further up tends to be black by the time it gets that far.

Kudos on going to the doctor early though. Stuff like that is best not left alone. And hey, from experience, you may end up getting attractive young lady doctors playing with your bits lol

I'm not that lucky to have young lady doctors play with me, I'd need to pay for that sort of thing lol

I used to be one of those folk who though " meh it'll be fine " and not go to the docs, but loosing my father in law, my mates father and 2 work colleague's all to cancer last year kinda makes me that little bit more aware of getting things looked at pronto.

I have recently filmed endoscopic ressection of cancers from bowels and it's frequently done in Japan, which is where the doctors came from to demonstrate it. I'm hoping in your case it's nothing serious.

There is currently a two week deadline to deciding pathways for treatment if it is cancer so it'll get sorted quick if it turns out to be that. Also remember, cancers can just be benign!

Good luck with the tests and let us know how it goes.

Bazil, I'd've concerned at the GP doing an exam, I wouldn't have though a GP would know enough to justify it, maybe he likes his finger in men's bot bots, :)

well mr bazil, as you know i to have had this Three times over the last four years, First time it happend was at work, went straight to a+e and had a small section of the lower bowl removed there and then,as i was told that had i ignored my bleeding The part that was removed could have turned cancerous (sp) in time

The moral of the story is if in any dought with your health issues you should get them checked out pronto, never be shy or scarred to go see you docs as they have seen it all before !!

Anyways i hope everything turns out well and its just a minor issue.

You've acted wisely bud, after all we are machines and a little check up along the way will keep things right, especially if dealt with quickly.

any news yet Mr bazil?

nova_niek
29-02-12, 07:04 PM
Been there, done that.

Last year I had to have a pair of haemorroids (sp?) removed, so the local doctor decided it'd be a good idea to have a looksee in my lower regions. Had to drink gallons of a cleaning solution that makes you run for the bog, which worked a treat. Bleeeeh. :p

A couple of days later it was showtime. Like others here I had to lay down on my side and got a camera inserted. The assistant decided I didn't need a mild sedative, probably because she was a cheeky biatch and wanted to see me suffer LOL. Anyway, eyeing up my innards on a huge monitor was entertaining, interesting and bloody painful at the same time. Some "poliepen" (can't think of the English word - something along the lines of foreign objects) were detected so I had to return at a later date to have them surgically removed.

The walk home from this little adventure was, errr, interesting. Once home, I went to bed and stayed there for 2 days. I was knackered. Oof.

Shortly after, an appointment was made and a couple of weeks later I returned to our local hospital. But not before downing yet another load of laxative drinks... this stuff tastes horrid but it does the job jolly nicely. This time, I was given a mild anaestetic and dozed off. ZZZzzz :thumb: An hour later, I woke up feeling fantastic. Major difference compared to the ordeal that happened first time.

Two weeks later, the results of the test were given and I got the thumbs up. I'm clean. :)

Bazil, I hope the outcome will be in your favour mate. Please let us know how you get on. And pray to whatever is up there that it's nothing nasty.

Cheers,
Niek

Oops

Update, had a appointment last week, fingered for the second time :(

No obvious signs of the cause of bleeding but due to the colour and amount of blood it's looking not too bad, just waiting on an appointment for a camera to be shoved up my ass now, not a full exam when I get put under but a shallow exam to look up my rectum to just below my bowel while I'm awake, possable cause may be internal hemeroids that may need banded

Please skip this post if you don't want to see blood on toilet paper lol
And blame sport as he asked for pictures lol

So tomorrow ( Monday ) I will be taking my bowel preparation for my examination on Tuesday, basicaly a CCTV camera shoved where the sun don't shine lol

I won't require being put to sleep as they won't be looking into the bowel instead I'll be awake during the proceedure :(

Just for Graeme lol

Thanks folks, the bonus of taking the picture was the doctor told me I wouldn't need to take in a stool sample lol

Hemeroids look like the cause now and if required they may be banded,

Not a huge problem but one that should be sorted IMO

So yesterday I had the dreaded bowel prep ( thankfully I didn't take any pictures lol ) So no solid food from 11am untill I get home from the hospital :(

Basicaly I had to drink 2 litres of water with additive the hospital gave me, then wait 2 hours then another 2 litres over 2 hours,

Not so bad apart from the stuff tastes rancid lol

Then upto the hospital today. Checked in and shown to a cubical with en-suite toilet lol
Then in for the exam, I chose not to watch the telly as I didn't fancy the upcoming programme !
It's not to bad untill they start to get further upto the bowel and then use air to inflate the tubes for a better view, this was a touch uncomfortable but it has to be done.

The result was that I have small hemeroids of which none are large enough to band ( small band placed over the roid to stop blood flow, then the skin welds shut and said roid falls off )

The doctors say that the cause of the blood would have been one of the small hemeroids being torn by a passing movement. If I have any more episodes of blood I have just to go to my GP again.

So that's it folks I'm now off to raid the fridge as I'm fcuking starving lollollol

As I said before I didn't start this thread as a ASW moment but purely to show that if something is wrong with you there is NO embarrassment in talking about it or going to get it checked.

Better to be safe than sorry folks :)

Glad to hear the good news.

You are totally right... if something ain't right get it checked.

I came across a tiny sharp lump on one of my nads a few years back and for a while was thinking what it could be (naturally you will assume what you don't wanna hear). Made an appointment to see my doc, after a quick check up everything was cool. Advantage of checking your manly bits regularly. If I didn't go I'd have been thinking of the worse and would've probably made my self ill from it even though it was nothing. Glad I had the balls (pardon the punn) to go sort it. It's a weight off your shoulder... and you can go on living your life :)
