Look in the real Haynes, figure it out by looking at the two, if still not sure, slap the feckers together and try it! lol
I don't have a working nova to try it in lol

Stand it on tire, lob some 4star in it and crank it off a battery and stand back! lol

Yeh it will fit and due to combustion chamber shape will have increased compression over a standard 1.6 it's a common mod on the 1.4 to increase compression
Cool, just need a carb or 2 now :)
got a 1.3 carb and inlet here if you want it?
im sure my sr is a 1.6 bottom end, and 1.3 head

Thanks for the offer but I'm just going to use stuff I have lying around, I've got a webber twin choke from a XR3 and a few old inlets to try,

I'll have a look at the build thread mate :)
yes it will work, but you must use the 1.6 cam pulley to keep the belt ok..
be careful about breathers
and of course, use a 1.6 gasket.
The other engine I have is a complete 1.2 carb engine, rather than bin parts I'd like to know the best way to combine them for good results?
Dont you think you might need to concentrate on bodywork first mate ? lol
Other problems first lol
Went to fit the engine back in my mates Astra yesterday with Iain and saw the new clutch release bearing was damaged so put a stop to that :(
Then still got that stupid vectra to finish, then saw a nice mk2 escort shell for sale ??
But now I want a rally car lol
Still buying parts for the gsi though
The engine questions here are purely to see if it's worth keeping the odds and sods I have lying around, I've got to much crap lying around like 4 F13 box's 3 F20's a F28, a LET bottom end a full XE conversion 3 E16's a few different smallblock heads, a 1.2 engine blah etc etc etc
And I won't even start on used panels, iirc I have 7 tailgates lol
