Thanks to "Joshy" on here, the latest project is here. Surprising as I said never again, but it is indeed a bug!

It was delivered on Monday evening as Sunday had to be cancelled due to the snow, and I had a look at it yesterday evening. 100% solid with no rust - just needs a new slam panel and a repair to the inner wing which will be easy enough. This shell is easily the best I have ever seen for solidness - no rust or rot anywhere.

As I quite clearly said I would never do a Nova again, I cleared out most of my spares that I accumulated, so a wanted list has been posted.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/nova1984a.jpghttp://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/nova1984b.jpg

Put some headlights in loosely and the bumper back to make it look a little more presentable to the neighbours lol

There are only three reg plates of Novas that I have never owned (until this); Y reg, A reg and L reg - as this is A reg that makes it now just the two although I am talking to a guy about a Y plate Nova so watch this space!

A reminder of my previous Novas;

Yes, thats the one Edd although its now looking unlikely as the price keeps "bumping up" and then dropping down!

Bought a 5dr hatch for parts to build up the 3dr. 48k, 1 previous owner. Sad to strip it really but thankfully its been hit up the rear at some point and the boot floor is a mess so I dont feel as guilty! It only failed the MOT on a headlight!

Its a 1.4 L so is basically an SR with a WR gearbox. Same engine, and front anti roll bar etc.

And began repairing the inner wing damage on the 3dr;

Drilled out the spot welds and cut out the damaged front panel. The 5dr will donate its front panel (which is MINT and genuine)

Thankfully once the headlight housing structure was free, the inner wing returned to near original shape quite easily and allowed the replacement panels to line up pretty easily (no bolts put in)

Steve - yeah I really thought I was done with Novas. Its a bug I guess, although nearly short lived today as the neighbours are less than impressed with the latest additions:roll:

I could never give her the love she deserved :(

She is certainly getting lots of attention - too dark for photos tonight, but she has had the following over the past week;

-full gray dash installed (mint SR trim ready to fit)
-carpet and underlay installed
-rear seat brackets installed for 60/40 split
-rear wiper etc put back
-rear lights fitted
-damaged front panel removed by drilling out the spot welds
-rear seat belts partly fitted

I am just waiting to remove the engine out of the 5dr then I will be removing the front panel ready to fit to the 3dr. The interior is all out of the 5dr.

Unfortunately with children and work there is little time to spend on it so its slow progress compared to my previous projects!

Alright Joe - Yes I knew Dazz had it for a bit. Leon has it now from Gillingham (novaboyleon).

Quick update - been busy stripping the 5dr so it can go for scrap and clear my drive.

The front panel has been removed and is rust and rot free, which is good!

and front panel;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0534.jpg

Started fitting the headlining - its from the 5dr so the fit wont be right but hopefully I will be able to make it right!

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0537.jpg

I picked up a great set of rainbow SR seats on ebay a few months ago and kept them for a rainy day.. taken 60/40 brackets from 5dr and the later rear seat back retaining brackets which are different;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0538.jpg

Good old Rich is sending me some more parts, 256mm brakes, rear quarter interior trims so I look forward to them coming!!

Latest exterior photo;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0535.jpg

Nothing exciting really - wing and valance have been primered, wiper mech fitted and wiring loom routed. Plus some retro wheel trims I found in the garage are fitted on the rear..

And the interior;

I spy the firewall sound deadening, thats gotta be worth saving! lol

Nice work with the sr bits, did you say your fitting the 1.4? I'm tempted to rip the 1.3 out of my astra to go in the nova as I know what 1.0's are like! lol

Alright Joe - Yes I knew Dazz had it for a bit. Leon has it now from Gillingham (novaboyleon).

Leon sold it a couple of months ago, can't remember where it went, it was alright but just wasn't a replacement for his GTE.

It was rather tired in all honesty and really needed work as it was rotten on the back chassis legs and front bulkhead plus the inner/outer arches were poor - hence me selling it as I couldnt be bothered to do it. That said it was worth a fortune in bits, as everything on it was new in 2009 near enough!

Yeah, I am saving the deadening - engine came out yesterday and I just have a few more bits to salvage before it goes this afternoon. Its a 1.4 - same as an SR engine. I would put the 1300 in yours - 1.0 are indeed terrible!!

Well the 5 dr has departed for its final destination - didnt think it was going to go as the guy turned up to collect in his transit flatbed (pikey style) and his winch wouldnt work - thankfully we managed to push it up much to the neighbours disgust.

Yeah, perhaps I should have. The inner wing is straightened out on the 3dr now - I did plan on removing both inner wings from the 5dr but time ran away!

Few updates;

Firstly I have been rebuilding the rally engine, and generally checking it over plus giving the block a coat of paint.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0579.jpg

It has ARP conrod bolts, lightened/balanced crank/conrods. The head is heavily ported with solid lifters;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0580.jpg

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0581.jpg

Plus been collecting some other bits - 4 branch, coilovers and a disc brake rear beam that needs assembling;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0585.jpg
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0586.jpg

And an update on the interior - its coming on though a bit of a dumping ground!

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0590.jpg

Got some clocks, yellow dial to fit age;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0589.jpg

Fitted new upper front panel - well the one from the 5dr, and been getting everything lined up - total pain, and still a bit to do but its getting there slowly;

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0587.jpg
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0578.jpg

There is still a slight problem with the valance, and I think it is slightly out of shape still - so ill measure up tomorrow as had enough of it today.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg240/cdburley/SANY0576.jpg

But then after deciding to go for a drive and enjoy the sun in the MG, it decided to blow its slave cylinder - so thats the next job!

Hi there;

Not much to update sadly as been busy with other cars.. it seems that the o/s front chassis leg is distorted so when I get chance I am going to set about rectifying it. Its a touch and go thing really, I considered breaking it up but other than that its a good shell so I will likely get on with it.

The engine is all ready, which is a 1300 on twin DCOEs all lightened and balanced and everything else is ready - just the shell :-(

Hi there, do you still have the car? As I'd be interested in buying it back of you if not. Give me a pm if you do
