Need help with my heating?

I have a 1.2 Nova..
i've been noticing my car running funny recently. Not getting very hot.
Lastnight i drained my old water n put new antifreeze/water in..
Went through bleeding it and it got hot, temperature gauge rised to halfway.
The heaters got hot too. So all fine!
This had been on idle for about 45minutes.

Then i started driving my car around and the temperature gauge dropped to cold
and the car was running cold, the hot heaters turned cold and wont warm up.
I was driving the car for about 30minutes and still no heat from the heaters..
But as soon as i leave it on idle for a while it gets hot again?!

Can anyone help? could it be the heater matrix? where is mine located?
I havnt got a clue! :(

heater matrix is located behine the dashbord


when you dont get any heat from the vents feel the pipes that go into the bulkhead behind the inlet and see if they are hot

If your matrix was goosed you'd not get any heat EVER from it...

did your rad fan turn on during this 45 mins idling? if not, then it could have a head gasket problem.

Thankyou guys.. im gona have a look for my thermostat later.. hopefully i can solve it!
The fan was running ye..
and all the pipes where getting hot too..
