you were lucky then cos tricks like that usually result in a 'steering column wanted' advert

read this...

wind the nut off nearly all the way so its flush with top of the threads empty loads of wd40/gt85 type lube onto the coloumn were the wheel is stuck leave for 5 mins or so .............................................. get a center punch and hammer and "lightly" tap the center of the coloumn

"should" come off with 3 or 4 taps

or if not, it will have knackered the latticework deformable structure on the column.

think you read it wrong mowgli didnt say hammer the **** out of it!! i said "lightly tap"

i know, but your lightly tap probably is the same as mine, but to somebody else, a light tap can mean not snapping the hammer handle...

ive done a few this way, as above a light tap works.

First time I did it with a hammer, I managed to screw it up. Had to sit there with a thread file for about an hour and a half then got lucky with the nut.

However I have learnt my lesson, and bought the steering wheel puller as Connor so rightly suggested.

only real way is the puller. and at £12 they are hardly dear. takes about 10 seconds to remove the wheel with no fuss or damage. if it was £200 then I could understand the desire to be a pikey lol
