hi i have a j reg 1.4 sr and it has a real problem starting and being kept running when cold when engine is warm it starts and runs fine any help please

are they auto- choke?

Auto choke thermo switch will be worn out.(which is housed on the left hand side of carb as you look at it from the front and has two small bore water pipes going into it)

Replace it with a weber carb - 32/34 iirc - a lot better, and manual choke too!

Or go for twin 40s, but be prepared for big fuel bills!
