I was off to go visit my partner who's in hospital at the moment, caught the bus in meaning I had to walk through town centre. And just my luck it was when they were doing the protest lol

These are not my pictures but just to show how big the police presence was today was phenomenal!! Credit to them as they claim no arrests were made in relation to the protest.

^^^ that would actually be a civillian from the local Safety Partnership these days.....how about a gripe about the waste of money spent policing an event that shouldn't need policing in the first place?

Same story over here come the silly season when a bunch of retards want to march around every town, every weekend banging drums and generally getting on my tlts. Such a waste of money and resources.

Couldn't agree more, I'd say there was 1,000+ officers! In town a good 7-8 hours. They wage will alone is beyond belief.

It's the shop keepers I feel sorry for. First payday weekend for most and the shops miss out because of this march...

EDL (English Defence League) organises matches every 6 months or so as they believe in a white Britain etc.

Then the UAF (Unite Against Fashionists) wanted to march also as there a "rival" protest to the EDL so police let them both do it but marched separate routes, so police were making sure no violence happened like the last 4-5 times.

the edl do not represent me or my views...

these are the same idiots who organised a march in nuneaton last year... the reason was that the gurkha regiment, who are based nearby were doing their regular homecoming parade, and the edl wanted to be there because there was going to be an islamist protest... i mean, like the gurkhas need protecting from anything!!!!!!!!

anyway, my mrs was in the ropewalk shopping centre with the girls, and molly, the eldest was walking out the doors ahead of them when some numpty security guard locked the doors for public safety, leaving our child locked outside the centre with a 3/4mile walk to get back in & my mrs bollocking him black & blue until he realised that his own public safety was in jeopardy unless he let her back in....

what the EDL don't realise is that leicester is a pretty tolerant place, and apart from a certain fundamentalist 'ghetto', is actually a decent multicultural place.... and then in nuneaton, if anything did kick off, the locals would sort it out themselves long before anyone else turned up..
