found some scoring on all of my pistons in the 2.5 lump i was given for the E30.

plus markings in the bearings, shiny bits and scratches. so its being stripped for spares.

nice 6pot table? lol

Seen far worse on pistons, would polish up, are the bores OK? that is what matters

Get them measured and check the bores too. The ones on the LET I'm rebuilding have slight marks but I've polished it up and had them measured. Bores needed a light hone but pistons were said to be ok.

lol

Sorry I was meaning Bubba, looking at the high quality working environment, component storage on the bottom shelf;)

Assuming there could be a plan to put it back together

Scores all the way down mean they have got hot and pinched up in the bores, they should only be at size about 1/2inch from the bottom of the skirt on 2 sides, probably work if put back together with those pistons on good bores, although not ideal by far... but with that kinda marking I would hazard a guess the bores are scored to buggery and/or at least 5thou oversize. Overbore and high comp forgies ftw :d

lol they were all numbered till i found the scoring in the bearing shells, then i admitted defeat and just ripped the whole lot out...so im getting the running m20 out the other e30 in return for helping fit an e36 2.5 into the e30 lol and doing a bit of welding. all in all i cant complain. can strip this engine to learn how to work on it and no bugger up the other one :d
