I'm waiting on a letter with all the engine codes ect to send of to dvla to record my nova as a 2ltr, what do I do with the letter and what forms do I need to fill out ect as I don't have a clue as tbh I never looked into it as I original toyed with the idea of never declaring it like a dickhead.
Any help work be great thanks guys

Take the letter and the edited info on the v5 to your local DVLA office. Hand it all over, get it all updated. You can tax it there and then too.

That's not to far still a pain in the **** tho lol no wonder loads don't bother
You can do it via post but I think I'd rather stick my bollock in an angry lion's anus tbh lol
Much much much easier to do it over the counter.

That's what I'm thinking I've had enough problems with the dvla and would like to reduce the risk of another funk up on there part
Theres a big dvla place up nottingham way, please tell me you got your car back now? lol
Need to get mine sorted. What needs to be said in the letter from the garage? Just this work has been carried out to a safe standard blah blah blah?

Read that. was just after a but gen on what i need to write in the letter from the garage. as i'm writing it as my mechanic can't be arsed lol
Independent vehicle inspection carried out by [blah]
I confirm engine number [blah], capacity [blah]cc has been fitted to vehicle reg [blah], vin [blah] to a safe standard. The vehicle has been suitably modified to accept both the engine and resulting power increase.
Signed,
[Blah]
Put it on headed paper and that'll do it.

There is an excellent guide in the how too's I changed mine mid jan and Recieved my logbook today so quite quick turnaround for the DVLA, just fill in the two boxes on the form I.e 2000cc and the new engine code, take that, a receipt (can be a home made one ;) mine happened to be for the purchase of my engine about 8 years ago) and your mot, tax it there and then so your all legal and don't have to wait for the revised log book to come through
Ahh fair enough, let us know how it goes, the lad whos got it is like a trader on aoc now, and hes got good feedback and i know quite a few people that have gone to him no probs, you must of just been unlucky, unless he doesnt like you lol. But yea give us a shout when you get it back mate :thumb:

Do you need to have receipt of where you got the engine from to be able to change it over? Can it be MOT'd before the change can happen (obviously if it passes that is a good sign I'd have thought).
I had my confirmation done at MOT time so I could get tax when I changed the V5.
I think if you go down the receipt route as evidence for change, it has to be a receipt for the engine and the fitting.

Mines off for an MOT very soon. Will get my mate to write a letter at the same time. MOT+letter=V5 changed+TAX=drive time!!! Well once i have been bum shunted for insurance lol
I wouldnt be so confident that turning up at your local DVLA place they would turn around and do it. I sent my V5 off with the new CC and Engine code and then i had a letter back asking for proof of conversion by an independent garage/AA/RAC etc etc and proof of insurance and a letter from Manufacturer confirming engine code. OR you could tick another box saying you bought it with the said conversion carried out ALONG WITH a confirmation of conversion by a independent garage. So i took mine to my MOT place and they sorted a headed letter and then sent that off and hey presto done!

Which is what i will have! MOT and letter from the same garage. Posting it will take forever, hence me going in there. Its only 40 mins away for me.
Nobby, the local office should have sent off a copy of the evidence you showed them along with the V5
fart knows mate i just sent my v5 with the new engine ccs and engine number and the headed letter from my mot place and took about 3 weeks and i had it back complete just a ******* £118 tax for 6 months now :(

I literally had a copy of a receipt for the supply only, either I was just lucky, the person doing it didn't really know what they were doing or the DVLA are just very inconsistent. I'm banking on all of the above, but it worked. I also put the engine code in front of the numbers I.e c20let which has come up on the v5 although thinking about it I guess it should only be the numbers.

So the car wouldn't have to be loved as a 2ltr to pass the emissions test on a mot then with the new regs in place

The previous owner of my let had it Mot'd as let when it was registered as 1.3 sr. No sure what emissions were etc but as its precat I'm not sure how strict it will be? Also do the new regs apply to cars that are 20+ or getting there years old?

New regs are same as old for novas so no change really as no nova ever had a let or xe so no cat needed
