The sri has an extra 12bhp as standard hence is quicker. however, i believe that the carb sr has more tuning potential, as a decent set of carbs would produce more power than the induction etc that u could fit to the multi-point injection sri. tell me if im wrong.

Sri standard but like Hey said the sr can be tweaked to over 82bhp quite easily. If u take the Cat out of an SRI and got an induction kit i'm guessing u would be looking at around 85-90bhp.
did all sri's come with a cat as standard
I would say the sri is better, i had a sr before my sri and it feels much quicker, its true that if you mod the sr it will make it quicker but if you do the same stuff to the sri, thats goin to be quicker still
Ballsy
did all sri's come with a cat as standard
yeah, after j reg all cars had to come with cats by law, so they made the nova injection, (only feul injected engines can have cats)
correct em if im wrong there

is it just as easy to put T40's on an Sri as it is to a Sr? Do u have to take the whole loom out and swap 4 a Sr one?

it is a bit more work involved, purley cos a carb is all nuts and bolts and injection is electronic.
basically remove the ecu from the car and any unecessary wires.
no need to swap loom
in fact the injection part of loom is usually seperate in my expereience with an sri cav
ok before this post gets locked AGAIN......
get the fatcs straight. i have owned both and driven many of each.
it all depends on where your driving and how u drive...
THE UPS + DOWNS
SRI
has more power
is heavier
has stronger roll bars (feels stiffr but loose traction on tight turns)
has a longer ratio f10 box, so slower low down but quicker once its going
take the cat off an sri and fit an induction kit and your good for 93bhp
has beter brake servo + beter brakes
self tuning engine (obviously not cam/dizzy timing)
sounds much beter (lol)
SR
lighter
harder to get easy power gains
close ratio box (on later models)
quicker on hard corners
we found zipping round between roundabouts they wer pretty level, byt the time the sri started gaining it was time to brake, but the sri could leave braking later and theefore cuaght upo the difference the sr got from being able to corner slightly quicker and quicker off the roundabout due to lower ratios.
on a dual carriageway the sri would easily win once above 60mph
tbh id have the sri over the sr anyday. much less hassle with having fuel injection. very very nice engine.
fitting t40's to the sri just means u need a different inlet manifold and you need a pressure regulator. also a dizzy/coil/engine loom from an sr
oooowwwaaarrr get her, dicko with all the facts there. well said sir.
