vaux-car-parts have got one in as I've just enquired. I've got 4 cables to try, 2 from a mk2 cav and 2 from a mk3. I've been told both will fit, the mk3 ones will need some m8 all-thread bar to extend it though.
Mk2 cav estate LH cable 92019440

NLS though

ps I'm fitting mine on Friday so I'll let you know exactly which ones fit.

Graeme

So it needs to be of a Mk2 cav estate LH cable and should be 756mm long?

Gareth_C

On the brakeworld site all the mk2 are the Same length but that's the one I used and had no bother

hendrix
23-01-12, 08:19 PM
thought the estate was longer.

I have no idea which ones fit, I've just got every single one that anyone has mentioned lol.

I thing Sean (srs1) has used mk2 cav estate. They are different to the cab749 listed above.

Now i'm impressed, it's not just me that knows.

You need the Nova long bit, and the Cav mk2 short bit. But there are lengths iirc its the shorter size as that has the longer threaded bar. I can check and get part number tomoz if you want them.

See below, I had to make up a short m8 joining piece to join the two cables together, i ended up using an achor sleeve and just cut the non threaded bit off.

I fail at following advice issued by Benn, mainly because I wear a shirt and tie to work.lol either that or my arms aren't strong enough to pull them together.

Edit, I'm always grateful for the help though Benn:)

Benn

Still confused then lol

Nova long, cavalier estate short. Ask Benn, lol

Graeme
23-01-12, 09:15 PM
Euro is quoting the estate one as 857mm, so this is the one that doesn't need extending then?

Benn
24-01-12, 08:02 AM
Let me check, as the longer one has the shorter threaded bit.

Benn
24-01-12, 08:22 PM
These are the firstline (maker) cable number, i've found i'm not using the estate one tho.

Left hand one fkb1032 (which for a Nova is run to the right) this fits perfectly with the Nova long bit. These is on my car at the mo.

blue_peg_16v
25-01-12, 09:34 PM
No nowhere near that pick is crap tbf it's in decent nick just noticed the one on eBay was the same early type beam

I'm a tight Yorkshire man I'd want a full nova for £170 lol

hendrix
25-01-12, 09:48 PM
don't you have to weld the guides on after cutting them off a vaux disc beam/

blue_peg_16v
25-01-12, 09:56 PM
Not with the later beam you just use the other cable this has some guides like a later beam but there welded closer to the chassis mounts so cable would catch on exhaust think I'll just remove them and weld them into the proper position just thought if there was a cable like the early nova ones you could use I'd use those to save faffing.

Benn
25-01-12, 10:59 PM
The round tube like guilds are from Cavs and Astra and such, you can buy them to weld on. Didnt know thy can on early Novas too. But i never saw the point. I have ones that are a metal C shape with a plastic inner that just guilds the cables.. Which is what most Novas have.

Graeme, cable will be in tomoz, is 8-9 quid. Can post it Sat if you want..

blue_peg_16v
25-01-12, 11:18 PM
Yeah that's what I have on the saloon mate think I'm just gonna weld some c shaped guides to it the beams on 83-85 novas were like the one I have changed after that to the style you have benn

Benn
25-01-12, 11:40 PM
Oh, didn't know that. You can buy the tube like ones, youmight be able to buy the others too.

blue_peg_16v
25-01-12, 11:53 PM
I have a beam I can releive of them if needs be

Graeme
26-01-12, 06:11 AM
Pm'd Benn

Graeme
27-01-12, 05:39 PM
Right first of my ordered cables has just landed and it the cav mk2 estate short cable from Euro but it has an outer, which I can only presume is wrong, how have other peoples estate cables arrived? Look easy enough to remove if needs be

Benn
27-01-12, 05:47 PM
Cover over it shouldnt matter, I leave them on, just lock them off from moving with a cable tie each end.

hendrix
27-01-12, 08:22 PM
I can't be any help I'm afraid as I never got round to the beam after the head gasket went
