Couldn't say the month, but it'll be the Pierburg 1B1, Mine still runs one, although it is a 91

The 1992 onwards was single injected carb 1.2i so 1991 was the last. That goes with the 1.2 merit I got brand new in sept 1991.

What 8v carb engines were used in Corsa B's when the Nova was no longer made?

The 1.4SR had a carb up to prety much the end of the run (you get K reg SR's), although I've never seen a 1.2 with one that late.

Easiest option is to waltz into a Vauxhall dealer and get them to check on EPC. They should be able to tell you exactly what engine should be fitted to your car.

If this is for MOT emissions purposes, even if the car did have an engine swap it with a carb one then it would be an older (pre-Aug 92) engine so be on the non-cat test.

No purpose of this, just wanted to find out more information on my engine, didnt assume it to be anything other than a standard block lol..now I realise why it was painted.

If your car has got a cat under it, then it could well be the single point injection that you've got.

Or as an easier way to tell if it has a controlled fuel leak on it, it's a carb, if there's an injector sat over the throttle body, it'd be injection.
