Well then, picked up a Group N ecu, the guy says it has a higher rev limit and improved mid range power, just popped it open and compared to my standard ecu, both units are Bosch code CJ for E16SE, in the pics below you can see the chip at the bottom has been changed on the gpN one, any ideas what this chip controls?

Any info on gpN spec engines would be a great help aswell
Thanks :)

It's the map chip basically holds the ECU configuration. Can't remember too much about the Grp N chips but I think it was pretty much just a raised rev limit. I think any extra fuelling was done by messing with the AFM.

the e16se is a 2 part system. the ign ecu, which you bought is simply the ignition controller, it might have had its advance/retard messed with too, but mostly it'll be rev limit.
the afm ecu is triggered by the ign ecu, but apart from that, it controls fuelling seperately
