As per title can anyone confirm what the original tyre size is for the 3 spoke 14's on early SR's?

165 65 14. Pretty sure that's correct mate.

wow - just checked on line. Tyres are CHEAP! £50 each fitted for a proper brand. Just been charged £660 for 2 rear tyres on my BMW ha ha ha

Correct , and the early rims were 4 1/2J x 14", not the later 5J x 14" I sold my original rims many years ago as they were too narrow!!! They had Pirelli P8's on mine

Cheers for that post. I'll check the ones I bought recently. Is the width stamped on the wheels?

It on the wheel where the centre cap sits over.

I have a set of 5J's for mine now, and I normally fit 185/60/14's, later GTE/GSi were 175/65/14's

Do the 185/60's "bulge" over the wheel?

On my old SR the previous owner had 185/55's fitted and I thought they looked crap as they had a bulge look to them. The wheels look a lot better with 165/65's fitted. :thumb:

I'd go for the 175's myself, I've had 185/60's on 3 spokes (5"J) & depending on brand they can look OK. Michelins look good, Kumho's looked huge.

As Craig states, it's dependant on your tyre choice/brand, some tyre designs tyre wall is "square" to the rim, some bulge.

I also forgot my 185/60/14"s were on 5.5J rims, sorry for the misinformation.

I have a set of 185/60/14 Goodyear NCT"'s for my SR rims, but aren't fitted yet
