Was just thinking what is the earliest Nova SR that's still about? Mines is 13 march 1984. Guess that must be near the beginning of the run of sr's

Blimey. Now then, I'd say it died 1997ish so about 15 years...makes you think when you look at yours which you could eat your dinner off!!! Its amazing to see the condition of yours.

Along time ago. It does make you think when you see all the cars that were scrapped 8 years after they were made. I remember getting rid of a gsi in 99 that was rotten an that was a h plate

Thats absolutely right. My SR was fit for pretty much nothing after 13 years. I've now got a 31 year old BMW 5 series on my drive and a 32 year old VW MK1 Golf 1.6 GTi. Just shows that quality of build and steel lasts........

I'm still shocked yours looks so good. How much of it is original panel and metal wise?

Must've been 1984 as the Nova was out in 83 and normally they won't have the sportier models out right away. I've only ever seen SR's 84 on. Both look lovely!

Mine is not recent. that pics at least 2 years old. It looks exactly the same today tho. Hasnt gone far since then maybe about a 1mile at the most.

It did not need much to get it back on the road, wish I had not sold it now :(

Mines was two years ago and it's now getting re built...mainly because I like them clean not cause it was rotten

Quality German! I have a 87 205 gti and that's very solid too.

The sr has had replacement rear arches but the doors, tailgate etc are original and the inner wings, rear chassis legs and floor are all in very good condition....credit to the previous owners

Possibly the oldest there. Be good to see whats happening to it. Looks like there are a few nice ones older than mine that will be about for a good while

Who ended up buying it in the end Rich? Must admit I was tempted at the time

I sold it to John and he has since sold it on. It is now in the Hull area iirc, an old school PNG'er has it but not sure if they want it to be known.
Was a bloody solid shell, would make an ace project. I still have the very early imperial engine out of it(Very early engines supposedly have stronger rods etc like the Mk1 Astra 13S)

its not in hull its between pickering and thirsk in a barn with a gsi a sport and an f reg dakar yellow sr nothing has been done with it as he is restoring the gsi and sport first then the plan is a period modded sr but thats some years off hes got loads on with the other two and keeping the yellow one shiney, he also has a spare dakar yellow shell tucked away at his mums lol

tbf for what he paid if he hadnt had it i would of even when unemployed lol

Tbf Phil is very well known by the old school contingent his dakar yellow sr has been around for years, but dosent do many shows now it just gets abused on track now, saying that it's still clean enough to eat ya dinner off the engine and it will be at national weekend again this year

My SR was registered 25/2/85, but has early features, no passenger mirror, 41/2J x 14" alloys and has various '84 date stamps ans not a contender for the "earliest title"lol

Not that I am suggesting we should compare chassis numbers, but as an example my Rover Vitesse was built Dec 85 and wasn't registered until July 87 a gap of 18 months!!!:eek:
