Hey guys, this im my nova project, Ive fitted a C14SE head off an astra mk3 on what use to 1.4 carbed engine. Heres what ive done so far, fitted the new head, replaced the crank pully with toothed pully for cranksensor and fitted the cranksensor and connected it up. I am yet to get a fuel pump, but i'll hopefully be able to get it by this weekend. Ive wired up the ecu best i could (feeeble attempt), but still not spark :( Heres some pictures to show how ive wired it so far, any help would be appreciated:

The red wire goes to the battery, but i dont know where the black cable goes? i thought was it an earth but on the astra i took it off it went into the thing in the next picture.

Im pretty sure the black wire went into this.

Heres the ecu, which i earthed, and the fuel pump relay, correct me if its not the fuel pump relay! And the other black connector went to the fuse box in the astra.

Anyway, thats what ive done so far, any kind of help would be appreciated! ;) From what i can see ive done everything correct but the wiring!

have a look in the article section for fitting a smallblock xe

its basicly the same apart from the transponder/immobilisor part as yours dosnt have one

make sure youyr switched live is live whilst cranking, if not you wont get spark

large black is the switched live
large red to the battery
thick red blue to the fuel pump
brown/white and brown/yellow are for flashing the codes cant remember which one goes to the dash, usualy put it on the old choke light so you can flash the codes

Is the switched wire the black wire in the second pic down? If so is there anywhere on the car where i could connect it to so that when it cranks it has 12v? starter motor? Also just out of curiosity what exactly is the purpose of the switched wire? :D

i took my switched live from the fusebox, i used the wire that goes to the wiper motor im sure its purple just get the volt meter or bulb onto it and make sure you get 12v when cranking the engine

i had my ecu bolted to the underside of the battery tray inside the car, the switched live is a feed to the ecu as it needs a permanent live and a switched, if the switched live cuts off when cranking the ecu wont power

also did you get the map sensor which was bolted to the bulkhead of the astra? youll need that for your loom

Ahhh thanks for all the help! I'll do what you did :) Ohhhh crap, no i dont think i did take it off. I have two extra connections on the loom, does it connect to one of those?

you should have connections for

coilpack
collant temp sensor on the right side of the head
lambda sensor (round single wire plug)
idle control valve
injectors
a few earths to the left of the injectors
plug for the sensor that goes in the inlet pipe
map sensor on the bulkhead

couple others ill post up when i remember lol

Ahhh cheers dude :) luckily the scrappy where i got the head from is pretty much right next to my house so i'll go and get the map sensor on friday morning when im back from uni! The only other thing im not sure about is the sensor that goes in the inlet pipe! I'll have to have a look at that again...

im sure ita a round plug, youll need the inlet pipe from the astra as it sits inside the pipe
